This week, The New York Times published a column by a left-wing academic (forgive the redundancy), John Della Volpe, director of polling at the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics.
In his first sentence, Mr. Della Volpe reveals his politics.
He described young Americans as "stressed and sickened by thoughts of their rights and democracy slipping away."
That is what Harvard and just about every other university tells America's young people: "Because of the Right, you should be stressed and sickened -- the Right is taking away your rights and destroying your democracy."
The terrible irony is that there is a mortal threat to Americans' rights and democracy -- but it is entirely from the Left. Ever since Stalin declared Trotsky a "fascist," the Left has labeled its opponents precisely what the Left itself is.
And it almost always works.
It is certainly working in America. Della Volpe writes: "According to the fall 2022 Harvard Youth Poll, a national survey I oversee for the Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics, 59 percent of young Americans believe their rights are under attack and 73 percent are troubled that the rights of others are threatened."
Whatever the Left says is essentially the only thing the majority of young Americans ever hear. For almost six years, the Left has called former President Donald Trump a fascist. The current president of the United States went even further, declaring that most Trump supporters are also fascists.
Yet, Trump was president of the United States for four years, and civil rights were not abridged nor was democracy threatened. As regards the illegal entry of conservative protesters into the Capitol in January 2021, Trump repeatedly called for a peaceful protest and respect for law enforcement (as evidenced, in part, by his now-restored Twitter account). And, let it not be forgotten, that unlike the violent left-wing protests in 2020, which almost no Democrats condemned, the Jan. 6 Capitol breach was virtually universally condemned by Republicans -- and the then-Republican vice president, Mike Pence, rejected the protesters' demands to invalidate the 2020 election result. Moreover, the Left called Trump a fascist for four years prior to Jan. 6.
As regards Trump's belief that the election was stolen, Democrats, including the losing presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, claimed Trump did not win the 2016 election. And it has been a common left-wing tactic for decades to illegally occupy state offices, not to mention college presidents' offices. In 2011, thousands of left-wing protesters took over the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison for four months. More recently, in 2018, protesters took over a Senate office building on Capitol Hill demanding rejection of Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court.
It is not conservatives who threaten freedom and democracy. It is the Left; its party (the Democrats); the legacy media (virtually all mainstream media); and Big Tech (Google, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok and, until now, Twitter). They are the ones who suppress dissent -- which, as I pointed out in my last column, is proof the Left lies, since truth-tellers have no need to cancel lectures, censor dissenters, manipulate search results, etc. The Left constitutes the greatest threat in American history to freedom of speech -- the most important of all freedoms.
Yet the young vote for the Left. According to Della Volpe, these were the findings of exit polls from the recent elections:
In Arizona, the Democratic senator, Mark Kelly, won a whopping 76% of the 18-to-29-year-old vote, while the Republican, Blake Masters, received 20%, according to a CNN exit poll. In Pennsylvania, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, the Democrat, received a lopsided 70% of the youth vote, compared with the 28% Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Republican, received. And in Nevada, Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto earned reelection against the Republican Adam Laxalt, thanks in large measure to young voters, 64% of whom voted for her, compared to Laxalt's 31%.
In short, it seems that young Americans voted for the people who are ruining their lives.
It is the Left that is primarily responsible for the unprecedented levels of depression and despair among young people.
The Left deprived children of school for nearly two years -- for no valid reason.
The Left ensured that young children not see anyone's face outside their home for nearly two years -- again, for no valid reason.
The Left frightens young people about their future -- through its hysteria over global warming -- in a way that no group ever before frightened young Americans.
The Left has destroyed the healthiest beliefs in a citizen's life -- especially in the life of a young citizen: Belief in God and belief in one's country. God, religion, patriotism and the national flag have all become objects of mockery.
The Left lies to them about everything -- from nonbinary genders to the founding of America to the extent of white racism in the country to opponents of the Left being fascists.
The Left works feverishly to prematurely sexualize children by talking about sex and the nihilistic falsehood of sex being "nonbinary" to children beginning in kindergarten.
The Left encourages taking children as young as 5 years old to observe and participate in "Drag Queen Story Hours" -- featuring men dressed as women reading and dancing for them, often in a sexualized manner, and then having some of the children do the same.
The Left works feverishly to diminish the authority and stature of parents, the most important people in a young person's life.
The Left has created the unprecedented explosion -- not only in America, but in recorded history -- of young people who think they are really a member of the opposite sex.
The Left corrupts young people's ability to think clearly by suppressing common sense dissent. Everyone knows it is grossly unfair for a man to compete in women's sports. But if a man says he is a woman, we are supposed to believe and to assert that it becomes fair. And any girl or woman who says it is unfair is threatened with expulsion from her team, the end of her chances for a sports scholarship to college and social ostracization.
Yet, they vote for their destroyers. Go Figure.

The key word here is young. Hopefully they’ll learn from their mistakes, but I doubt it.
There’s a new crop graduating every year, which will certainly replace the few who might wake up.
This is why I laugh every time someone gets all fired up about “CW2 is coming”. The youts of today love big government and there’s very little chance they will be exposed to conservative ideas.
It will be too late. The young are brainwashed simpletons.
We’ve turned the young over to the far left that took over the schools.
If they lose some once the real world smacks them across the head, the Left doesn’t worry…they’ll just make more.

The left realizes they can't convert freedom loving Americans to their side, but they can brainwash the children and wait for us to die off. All that will be left is an America populated with brainwashed zombie leftists. There won't be a need to worry about a civil war then.
Every election millions of r’s and d’s vote to destroy the past and future. This idea that yoots have any power is garbage. We are operating under the powers of older gens, biden trump Pelosi McConnell. All of those people hate gen x y z. They have done a incredible job of destroying those generations future.
Colleges stopped being educational institutions decades ago when they turned into indoctrination/brainwashing centers.
They are filth. Will vote for the end of us all.
Brilliant column as usual, but he did not even mention the most horrific thing, zero chance of economic growth for at least ten years.

There's something else to consider when looking at the threat that leftist brainwashed young folks represent to American civilization: Look at how most of the so-called college educated ones act when a non-leftist tries to give a talk at their "universities." Little purple/green/magenta-haired, fat-assed, pierced and tatted spoiled scumbags screaming and screeching like demented three year olds. Blowing noisemakers. Threatening bodily harm - a whole host of in-your-face, savage behaviors.
These infantile monsters have been taught that conservatives are the personification of evil; that straight, White men are the fascist, oppressive scum of the earth and that everything evil and vile is "good."
They are filled with resentment (over God knows what), envy and raging self-hatred. If given the opportunity I have no doubt that huge numbers of them would participate directly in rounding up conservatives, Christians and anyone else they deem fascist and murdering them with the complicity of the leftist government they will soon inherit and control.
Plan accordingly.
Here in South Florida historically we have had thousands of Cubans who are now Cuban-Americans escape the communism that was and is Cuba.
Castro was a terrible dictator,protected by the CIA of course,who jailed anyone who didn't embrace his rule of Castro inc. His machine of commie criminals stole all the wealth of Cuba and made him and his alcoholic brother billionaires. Even his daughter fled to Miami.
Those who escaped Cuba and came to Miami did recreate the city/Dade County and for many years it was a conservative haven of those who hated communism and embraced the US. Especially in the Reagan years.
Than came their kids and their kids,and grand kids tormented by the stolen education system we have from the hard left. It's a disaster ruining young minds for over a decade. this devious system has stolen many of the minds of the younger Cuban kids many other Hispanic families as well as many others from Central and South America who migrated here as well.
Only recently have we begun to recover due to the excellent rule of President Trump and Governor Ron Desantis.
Yesterday, I met an older Cuban/American gentleman who was running a company of a dozen or so other Cubans who embrace the US.
We talked awhile and it took almost five minutes before we figured we both thought the same thing about O'biden and Obama. Seems most patriots like this gentleman already realize what is going on with Obama running the show and the commiecrats who own the education system.
Anyway, meeting and touching base with other conservatives is so easy. We all should do it since it solidifies our beliefs and let's us know there are many more of us than there are the hard left.They are always a minority.
As for the kids it will take time to undue the brainwashing they have had from age 3 to college years. But it will happen.
