GOP Sen. Mike Braun will run for Indiana governor

Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.) filed paperwork on Wednesday morning to run for Indiana governor, leaving his Senate seat open in 2024.

A filing from Indiana’s Secretary of State office noted the paperwork was filed on Wednesday morning, putting to rest speculation over whether Braun would either choose to run for a second term in the Senate or to replace term-limited Gov. Eric Holcomb (R).

“Mike Braun has filed his paperwork to run for governor and will be making an official announcement of his candidacy very soon,” Josh Kelley, chief of staff and senior political advisor to Braun, said in a statement.

Politico was the first to report the news of Braun’s filing to run for the office.

The decision comes several weeks after Braun and a handful of other Republicans voted for Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.), the chair of the Senate GOP campaign arm this past midterm cycle, to be their leader in the upper chamber, though that vote failed and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was reelected again.

For starters Eric Holcomb outed himself this year at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

That alone should bring him down in a primary in 2024.

Braun as an Established Politician being brought in replace the Globalist Holcomb as a means of keeping the “Riff-Raff” out of the GOP.

I stand by that post with Braun perhaps supporting Scott as a means of getting some outsider credential to replace Holcomb.

Is Holcomb running again?

Like I said Holcomb’s WEF participation plus his wishy washy COVID policies make him vulnerable to the right challenger.

If Braun runs against Holcomb it becomes an outside Braun versus Mike Pence’s Globalist replacement as Governor Mr. Holcomb.

Dear God, Please don’t do this to us Mike, One squish senator is enough, don’t make us endure Holcombe as a senator in tandem with RINO extrodinaire Todd “Sir Spends-A-Lot” Young.

ONE RINO IS ENOUGH

What you say doesn’t quite follow. Holcomb is term-limited so he won’t be in the primary. And Braun is the guy who defeated TWO Establishment Republicans in the 2018 primary. And he has an 88% Conservative Review Liberty Score rating, compared to his Senate colleague Todd Young, who has a 52% rating. Young voted for the Democrat’s bills on infrastructure, guns, climate and marriage. Braun voted for NONE of these.

I think he’ll be a good governor. He’s probably sick of the Senate BS after only one term.

“ I am not familiar with Mike Braun.”

He’s been a reliable conservative. Miles above our other Senator Todd Young who just voted for the gay marriage bill.

I hope you are right.

The Pence-Holcomb kind of politician needs to be replaced in Indiana with someone who actually believes in Constitutional government.

I’m not a fan of Braun. He’s a squishy moderate.

Perhaps it could have but he is not running again because he is term limited.

Not sure why you would say that. He’s term limited and can’t run.
