WASHINGTON — President Biden wrongly claimed Tuesday that he lowered the national debt by $1.7 trillion — when in fact the debt grew by nearly $3.7 trillion during his first 23 months in office.
Biden made the error while using the terms “deficit” and “debt” interchangeably during remarks touting the slight decline in the annual inflation rate to 7.1% in November.
“We’ve done all of this while lowering the federal deficit in the two years we’ve been in office $1.7 trillion,” Biden said before incorrectly adding, “Let me say that again — $1.7 trillion we’ve lowered the federal debt.”
The national debt was roughly $27.75 trillion when Biden took office, according to the Congressional Research Service. It is about $31.43 trillion today.

Why not go for the full monty and say he cured cancer. It’s not as if the media will fact check it. Didn’t Hitler say the bigger the lie the more they’ll believe it. Something like that....
For two years, he’s also been taking credit for the number of jobs gained in those two years, which were actually people coming back to work after the Covid restrictions which forced people to stay home. Those people were coming back to work no matter who was in office, and they started coming back during Trump’s last few months in office.
But, the number of people working now is still less than during Trump’s last pre-Covid year in office, or 2019.
Biden is also taking credit for the lowered cost of gasoline, which is still a lot higher than when Trump was in office.
But, Biden knows that people are easily fooled when they’ve not been paying attention and when they are totally ignorant. Most young people don’t pay attention, and they do make a difference during elections.
The Debt is now $31.43 T, that’s $94,231 per citizen or $248,582 per citizen. Carry on.
