Believe what you want. Geez I post a few numbers and you pee your pants in rage. I am not arguing for mask mandates, vaccines, lockdowns or anything else. Just pointing out that statistically something different has been going on with COVID the last few weeks. Believe what you want, some people believe the earth is flat.

These are COVID confirmed deaths. Mostly people who were in intensive care in the hospital. They were there because they had COVID not the sniffles. I can’t speak for other states but in NJ a COVID confirmed death is a death directly related to COVID not because you got hit by a truck but had COVID.

“Further - didn’t China vaccinate everyone?”

iirc, China vaccinated the younger folks mostly and mostly urban residents (party members/office and factory workers). Elderly not so much. Also not so much the rural population which is a huge population chunk. They insisted on using their homegrown vaccine, which, last look, was about 40% protective. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few million rural dead given that China has experienced food and medicine shortages for some time

There’s rumor of a catastrophic contagion 10 X more lethal than Covid-19.

I smell CCP preparations for this rumored contagion.

OK - so:
The younger/urban folks (the very ones most impacted by the “zero covid” policies - that include locking entire apartment buildings down... the bulk of the factory workers affected... The bulk of those who are actively protesting the policy...

AS to the “homegrown vaccine” - if it is 40% effective, it is FAR more effective than the US available vaccines - https://alexberenson.substack.com/p/urgent-two-new-studies-show-mrna

Of course, how is efficacy measured? In how many people “die suddenly” from it?

against ‘original’ Alpha covid - US avail vaccines were “... an effectiveness estimate of 97% among employees within our own healthcare system...” (first paragraph, your study, ‘introduction’)

at that same exact time, the Chinese vaccine against Alpha was about 40% effective.

subsequent variants since then mutated ways to defeat immune systems in both acquired immunes and vaccinated. It’s because of these mutations that the ‘booster’ shots and acquired immunity from prior infection from original covid provide less protection against the mutants than the original shot was against the original version of covid.

Back to China, it’s not known at this time if the original 40% effective Chinese vaccines are effective =at all= against the mutated variants sweeping thru China right now. The only clue is the funeral homes that had a few dozen deceased a day are now seeing a few hundred deceased a day according to ancedotal stories making it out of China’s wall of silence.

Except that I don’t believe ANY of the numbers put out by “official” sources - they had an agenda - By the time the vaccines were available - Alpha was already no longer prevalent (and was indeed gone in most areas of the US - )

Delta was born in Uttar Pradish, India, Dec 2020, spreading to England before jumping to the US about May 2021 (first 2 cases TX) So there were several months after vaccine rollout where Alpha was by its lonesome - long enough to get most of the seniors vaccinated. The first version of Delta reduced vaccine efficacy by anywhere from 10-20%.

Then around the end of 2021, Omnicron surfaced, circulating with but outcompeting Delta. By March 2022, omnicron BA.2 was circulating in China. It’s suspected BA.2 is being outcompeted by BF.7 (a derivative of BF5). BF=7 is bad news, defeating most immunity, and with an RO of 10 to 18, compared to original Omnicron with an RO of about 5.

as to boosters, it could be that younger people are more prone to get ‘immune exhaustion’ than older folks who have weak immune systems and so boosters are more effective for them. from April, 2022: “..there may not be meaningful benefit of a second booster of the same formula for young, healthy populations, “ but for those over age 60, “.. the second booster equated to a 78% reduction in death compared to the first booster alone..”
78% is a substatial number of lives saved.
