BEIJING/SHANGHAI, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Hearses bearing the dead lined the driveway to a designated COVID-19 crematorium in the Chinese capital on Saturday while workers at the city's dozen funeral homes were busier than normal, days after China reversed tight pandemic restrictions.
In recent days in Beijing the spread of the highly transmissible Omicron variant has hit services from catering to parcel deliveries. Funeral homes and crematoriums across the city of 22 million are also struggling to keep up with demand as more workers and drivers testing positive for coronavirus call in sick.

Oh - and virologically speaking - just a few days after lifting the “zero COVID” mandates - is not enough time for a sudden massive wave of new cases to bring massive death.

Good point. They correctly described it in at least one statement.
On seeing this headline, I wondered, “are we being set up — again?”
These were the same kinds of fear stories that were spread when COVID first began — people falling dead in the streets, contamination by being within 6 feet of a carrier, hospitals having patients waiting in long lines to get in, funeral homes maxed out with corpses stacked like firewood, etc.
People seem to be avoiding the current rounds of boosters. What could ‘they’ do to increase the odds that people would rush to get boosted?
Anything and anyone having anything to do with COVID has a credibility problem — and ‘they’ destroyed their own credibility with outright lies and disinformation.

It might, if much of the population was locked down (especially in the beginning) these people may have been exposed to the original version of covid which has shown to be much more deadly. The less harsher varieties never got to these caged populations. Only a guess.

Not true. People are dying from Omicron every day. In the past 2 weeks the number of daily deaths in some NE areas has increased by almost 50%. NJ is seeing close to 20 COVID deaths a day which is way above the typical 6-7 a day we had been seeing for the past two months.
Now 20 a day is not the end of the world (unless you are one of them) but it is a pretty dramatic increase over the typical death rate.

any hype or hyping of that is by folks who think we will fall for it again... New Jersey, really? all of the NJ statisticians are LIARS. the whole world knows it.
