Putin tells Ukraine he is ready for peace talks - but only if Kyiv accepts 'new territorial realities'

Putin told Turkey's President Erdogan he was open to peace dialogue with Kyiv However, Kremlin said this was only possible if Ukraine accepts that territories occupied by Moscow's armies since the invasion began on Feb. 24 as Russian Erdogan called for peace talks in the phone call with Putin, his office said

Vladimir Putin told Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan he was open to dialogue with Ukraine, but only if Kyiv accepts 'new territorial realities'.

Russian troops occupy large swathes of eastern and southern Ukraine. The Kremlin claims it has annexed the Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions despite not controlling them in their entirety.

The Kremlin said on Thursday that Putin told Erdogan peace talks are possible, but only if Ukraine accepts that territories occupied by Moscow as Russian.

'Putin again confirmed Russia's openness to serious dialogue on the condition of Kyiv authorities fulfilling the well-known and repeatedly voiced requirements of taking into account the new territorial realities,' the Kremlin said in a statement.

Erdogan had called for peace talks in the phone call with Putin, his office said earlier.

'The Russian side emphasised the destructive role The West, pumping the Kyiv regime with weapons and military equipment, providing it with operational information and targets,' the statement from the Kremlin added.

This is not the first time Putin has expressed that he is ready for peace talks under the conditions set out by Moscow.

Putin shouldn’t be telling the Turks, or even the Ukrainians

He should be telling Joe Biden and his handlers. They are the only ones making decisions for Ukraine.

If Ukraine were to accept those term - in 5 years or less Putin or his successor would be back for the rest and more.

This would be normal operating procedure for Russia. That is how they conquered Poland, in three bites:

“Peace talks” - but only if Kyiv accepts that Russia now owns 20% of Ukrainian territory...

And we know without a doubt that this is nothing but an effort to delay to give him time to have another mobilization and arms resupply.

Is Putin ready to surrender Moscow to Kiev in the new Territorial realities. Does Ukraine have to invade and take Russian Territories for his vision??

Putin doesn’t get it. He’s in another land war in Asia, loosing hundreds of thousands of people, because he screwed up the invasion in the first place. Sooner or later, Ukraine will get/make offensive weapons and mother Russia will be endangered and people are going to have to make unpleasant choices.

Stupid war, stupid prizes. Putin needs to deal with the original ‘treaties-yes that several) and withdraw before it gets worse for Russia, because it will. The only consistent thing I have seen from Russia are: 1. they don’t mind killing their poorly equipped troops. 2. They and the world have overestimated the operational effectiveness of Russian weapons 3. They have zero understanding of logistics 4. They are arrogant to a point of carelessness with their strategies 5. Well trained and equipped reservists are neither.

Sounds like a solid strategery

so then why is Russia still bogged down in the Donbass Quagmire, advancing a total of less than 100 miles from their borders?

this could go on for years, meanwhile Russia gets bled white by the sanctions

that's a "strategy" for failure

And considering that Russia’s model of war is to just blow up whatever they can, often indiscriminately targeting civilians - including the use of White Phosphorous (again - on civilians).

Putin is running a two-front war: A relatively conventional war- soldiers fighting soldiers, and a terrorism campaign to inflict as much fear and harm on civilians as possible. But he is actually fueling more hate and maybe even resolve on the part of those he is trying to terrorize.

Perhaps Putin should do as the US did in our war with Mexico. After we captured all of Mexico, we negotiated and offered Mexico millions in GOLD to give up all claims to the North. Mexico accepted and has kept that bargain to this day.

Now what if Putin asked the Ukraine to do the same, then flashed billions of rubles in that Aztec Gold that Spain sent to Stalin for safekeeping(and it disappeared). Would Zelenskyy’s eyes light up knowing it was for him?

Would the Biden Admin suggest he take it knowing much of it would flow back to the Dem Party in the USA?

It is still not our fight.

> Sounds reasonable to me. <

Uh, no. My old comments will show that I was actually pro-Putin before the invasion - I thought Putin had legitimate concerns regarding NATO’s expansion. But the invasion changed everything.

Putin’s latest offer is just as reasonable as Hitler’s was regarding the Sudetenland: Give me the Sudetenland, and there will be peace.

Side note#1: That doesn’t mean the US should be involved here. This is Europe’s problem, not ours.

Side note #2: How corrupt Ukraine might be is not important. They did not send tanks across a sovereign border. Russia did.

There’s nothing peaceful about Putin’s demands. It’s more of a Daniel 8:5 kind of “peace”...

I disagree with your view of the sanctions… and that’s OK.

I think it is more likely that the sanctions accelerate the development and acceleration of the BRIC coalition.

Time’ll tell…

The reality is Russia is claiming a Ukrainian city of 800,000 people its soldiers have never set foot in. So you Sudetenland analogy is spot on. The reality is Putin is a tin pot tsar who is having fantastical and imperial fantasies. Nobody is obliged to accommodate him. Especially after hundreds of thousands of people have died due to nazi Russia’s latest war of choice.

Putin knows his days are numbered.

HE wants to ‘REUNITE” the old Russian territories under his watch.

AIN’T gonna happen.

It’s the same as ever. Putin is counting on the west forcing Ukraine to surrender. He has no Plan B because Russia’s fake and corrupt army is incapable of anything more than making a big mess in Ukraine. Putin sees a weak and divided west. He figures he can just keep killing Ukrainian women and children in the usual Russian way until the west tires of supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian nazism. Then Russia will again be free to rape its neighbors at their leisure.

Dennis predicted last night, Putin will declare martial law in the next few weeks and mobilize over 500K recruits for a new assault on Kiev
