Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) gave the 20 conservative holdouts four more concessions before Thursday’s continued speakership vote.
The concessions, negotiated Wednesday night between McCarthy and his critics, are meant to peal several members away from the group of 20 holdouts. McCarthy needs 16 lawmakers to break ranks with the so-called “rebels.”
The concessions McCarthy made are significant. Axios and Politico Playbook reported:
One member motion threshold needed to force a vote ousting a speaker, instead of five. More House Freedom Caucus members on the House Rules Committee (two seats). Pledges to hold votes on lawmaker term limit and border security bills. Major changes to the appropriations process to prevent another omnibus bill by allowing floor amendments to be offered by any lawmaker. In addition, the McCarthy-aligned super PAC, Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), pledged it would not spend money in Republican primary races against GOP candidates in open races, as its affiliates had done in several races in the 2022 midterm elections.

liars can concede everything to get what they want.
especially when they already have moved in.
Will he restore regular order, which Paul Ryan promised to do but then backtracked?
Doesn't Victoria Spartz voting "Present" count?
That makes 21 holdouts.
I’d like to know why he won’t make a concession on closing the border. That should be one of the most important items for ANYBODY in that chamber, but mccarthy won’t budge on that. What’s his problem?
Or like reading the bill before voting on it.
What is regular order and who got rid of it?
This was ALWAYS the rule until the tyrant Pelosi got rid of it. And the fact that they have had to fight McCarthy so hard to restore it tells you all you need to know.
Real simple. Border - build it. Enforce immigration laws, codify stricter laws and/or penalties to administration. Stop spending
so is this all about getting the right concessions? or have these 16/20 R’s stated that under no circumstances will they support McCarthy?
Not sure what endgame is being played anymore.
GET it in writing——Otherwise-—just noise.
Maybe he thinks he has “Squatters Rights” ???
It does seem we are negotiating the terms of a lease with a squatter that’s already in our rental property
Regular order would be voting on separate spending bills, not an omnibus.
All theater, sadly.

They can pass all this crap with their simple majority, all they want. They vote. We win. Senate does nothing. More importantly Biden doesn’t sign anything.
“Hey America, we tried. Sorry. We’ll try again next year”. Time to hit the golf course or happy hour.
How about:
One Bill one issue. No sneaking unrelated crap into big bills when no one is looking.
No more earmarks of any kind.
Kanye for House Speaker
I wonder if McCarthy will cry and blubber on like that little b#### Boner after he gets enough votes.
QUESTION:
IF Members cannot be sworn in until Speaker is chosen-—
HOW do they have ANY power to choose a Speaker???
Technically-—they are not ‘voting members’ of the House.
Seems this is backward-—
Swear in members-—THEN choose a Speaker.
