ROME — Migrants leaving Africa to travel across the Mediterranean Sea to Europe are only looking for “a little well-being,” Pope Francis said Tuesday.
The pope left Rome Tuesday morning on a flight for the Democratic Republic of Congo during which he exchanged a few words with the more than 70 journalists aboard the papal plane to cover the journey.
“Right now we are crossing the Sahara,” the pontiff told the reporters. “Let us offer a thought, in silence, a prayer for all the people who are looking for a little well-being, a little freedom, have crossed it and have not made it.”

Then they should build some in their own countries. Europe is not preventing them from doing that.
Bet the Catholic Church could support a lot of migrants if it were to sell off the contents of the Vatican Museums...

There is a claim that migrating from a Third World country to a Western country means that the person doing the migrating must be virtuous and industrious and simply wanting to apply their virtuousness and industriousness in a better environment.
That claim has zero rational basis.
How many illegal aliens does the Vatican currently house? Until and unless they are at 200% capacity, I don’t see what business the Pope has opining on what other nations should do.

I did a little calculation awhile back. Based on its size, Vatican City can easily take in 2000 immigrants. And there is room in the Vatican gardens for a high-rise to house them all.
When will the pope start building that apartment building? And will he just admit 2000 immigrants, or will he push for even more?

The irony is that Africa is perhaps the most resource rich continent on the planet...isn't that, after all, what "colonialism," was all about?
These people are schizoid. For most of the 20th century they demanded white europeans get out of Africa and stop exploiting the native peoples and resources, and now they demand the white europeans open the doors wide open and let africans exploit european natives and resources.
