Someday they may get there, but right now? This “skynet” fearmongering stuff does not exist.... Dirty little secret about health care in the US, is how routinely often the data your medical professionals are working off is BAD or out of date.... because they can’t even get their own internal systems to play nice together, let alone the idea of of some national government warehouse.
Just go research how the DOD/VA’s move to Cerner has been going if you want to see just what a joke these conspiracy theories are... Someday they may get there, but right now, not a chance in hell.

Anything digital, be it a health record, personnel record, email, cell phone call, me typing this remark - anything, is an open book subject to monitoring.
The day and age of a paper document being securely locked in a filing cabinet is long gone. Unless your a hermit living totally off grid high up in some mountain miles away from the next human being, you will have no privacy.

In December, my doc didn’t ask about the clot shot or the flu shot. I guess the “I dare you!” glare on face might have helped.

I know that it seems every time we go to the doctors we have to fill out new forms because they changed their “systems”. Nine times out of ten they take months to iron out the bugs so your info is correct. Just when they get it all figured out, they change their “third party” processors and we go through all that crap again. If our government can follow all that...more power to them!

When I had my annual physical in December the nurse asked me if I was up to date on my Covid and flu vaccines.
I replied YES.
I fibbed. I never got he covid. Have not had a flu vaccine since 2019. I probably will never get another. I no longer trust the medical establishment.

It’s like Silk said at Diamond’s funeral, relating it to herds of animals. You don’t have to infect / vaccinate each animal, one at a time. Just one or a few will do. Eventually it will spread and all will have it in their systems.

A typical regional or larger system, often is a hodgepodge of different systems, because they grew through acquisition and merger, and none of them play nice with each other, and you have basically some glorified spit and bail wire doing their best to keep it all from crumbling down.
Execs don’t want to spend the money to unify, because getting the data out of the old systems and into a new unified system is insanely cost prohibitive, because these EHR/EMR systems make their money by keeping you locked into them, the last thing they will ever do is make it simple and easy to pull your data out.. if they did, you are free to move to a new vendor and their annual licensing fees go away.
Anyone thinking that medical records are all being shipped and stored in DC doesn’t have any experience in the Health Care Field.... Cluster F*ck is putting it nicely.
You are welcome to distrust them, but all you did was get your record coded in your providers EMR/EHR with a flag saying you had gotten the shot.
No one in DC or elsewhere is looking or even has a copy of that record.

Truth be told, most health care providers can’t even get their internal systems to work well and reliably together.
Someday they may get to the skynet paranoia being sold by some here, but trust me, its not remotely there today.

I assure you I am far more up with the times and status of things in the EMR/EHR world than yourself.
And by the claims being made in this article, the author of this article as well.
Go bother to do your own investigation on how the VA/DOD move to Cerner has been going... this is a situation where they control everything, they won the data in the old system and are paying for the new system as well, they have 100% complete control over both and STILL can’t get the data from Vista to Cerner and get it up and running.
But you are out here trying to promote the nonsense that all the various EHR/EMR Systems out in the wild from dozens of vendors, running in tens of thousands of locations, are all sharing their information seamlessly with some shadow government groups in DC.
Most health care systems can’t even get their own systems to play nice together internally, yet they are shipping every single piece of data off to DC wrapped up in a nice bow.... You are being foolish.
Are their folks who would want that? Sure.. but reality is, the entire industry is NOWHERE near a place where they could pull it off.
