Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday brushed aside former President Donald Trump‘s attempts to cast him as a “groomer” of young women, saying he is not interested in spending his time chopping down fellow Republicans.
The governor has been on the receiving end of recent Trump attacks, including the former president reposting a picture this week on social media accusing Mr. DeSantis of drinking alcohol with students when he was a teacher. The post labeled him a groomer.
“I’d also just say this,” Mr. DeSantis said at a press conference Wednesday. “I spend my time delivering results for the people of Florida and fighting against Joe Biden. That’s how I spend my time. I don’t spend my time trying to smear other Republicans.”

The picture looks like it’s in a house from looking at the cupboards. For sure not in a bar...or school. I’d say they invited him to stop by and he did. Big deal...
Well you do you. We will see how it ends up. You’ve been so successful in 2018, 2020 and 2022. You must be so proud.
Yup....and I’m saying that he’s sorry he said he’s running and is trying to escape...so far...he’s doing a good job.
Yeh I don’t think so. There’s a lot going on behind the scenes both here and in the rest of the world. Trump is an integral part of it. My guess is there are likely things about DeSantis we don’t know. Jeb Bush was a terrific governor for FL but would you want him for President?
Both Trump and DeSantis should run for the nomination. They should debate on issues. That would be the best outcome for the party and the party’s chances in the 2024 election. No one should be told not to run, and no one has a right to the nomination. This allegation was brought up in both of DeSantis’s prior campaigns for governor. It obviously didn’t work. In a way I’m glad Trump is bringing it up to deal with it now rather than if/when the Dems come at him with it. But I also have to say, as somone who supported Trump twice, this is not a good look for Trump. It looks petty, vindictive and like he is scared.
trump also claims the experimental shots are “safe and effective”...
Since when did we get this notion that political campaigns aren’t supposed to be nasty?
Correct. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Let them make their best case.
The Nikkis, hogans, sununus can all vie for the remaining 1% of the primary vote.
DeSantis can join trump or he can explain why he won’t.
Until then he’s not on our side.
Best post of this thread.
Yeh and there’s a reason for that too I’m afraid. We’re in a war for humanity and all wars have casualties.
The biggest failure of the Trump administration lay in the failures and treachery of the total wrecks of supposed Trump allies which Trump placed in positions of public trust..... Anthony Fauci, Jeff Sessions, James Comey, and Alexander Vindman.
Trump has a track record of firing the terrible people he chooses, but not of building organizations of good people.
trump’s “operation warped speech” against desantis could be a side effect of “safe and effective”...
i’ve noticed a loss in sense of humor in the shot sheep...
I agree, 100%. Trump is afraid of DeSantis who hasn’t even said he is running yet. If he does, let them debate.
C'mon, even Democrats aren't this nasty to one another, especially at the Presidential campaign level.
Trump is defining decency down at a record clip.
Not that his supporters care, they seem to love it. Even though it's just further proof we're becoming a banana republic, and more importantly, contrary to the teachings of Jesus. Yes, I played that card, someone needs to.
It was Algore that first used Willie Horton against Dukakis.
Hillary and Obama was pretty nasty too back in 2008.
90% of Trump’s attacks on RDS have been because Florida joined with the 2020 Federal Covid response. It’s the most non-sensical strategy I’ve ever seen.
Trump has the brand… but he also enabled the theft of the 2020 election with all the emergency nonsense. Blaming DeSantis for going along with bad ideas from Washington for maybe 6 months is a bad look.
Trump did the same with Kemp in Georgia, that was the whole basis for the feud. And it has cost us dearly in that state.
‘I don’t spend my time trying to smear other Republicans’

Let’s see how that strategy works for him as he competes for the nomination. Should be interesting to see how he can compare and contrast his policies and accomplishments with other Republicans in the primaries.
However, we do know that his PAC pays others to smear his one leading opponent for him. And other interested parties on both sides of the political divide are persuading other Republicans and government entities to smear his one leading opponent.
Yet Trump's pettiness and nastiness beats them both. Congratulations.
