A staggering 30% of high school girls in the United States who were surveyed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said they had "seriously considered attempting suicide" in 2021, up from (a still shocking) 19% in 2011.
Panning back, almost 60% of high school girls surveyed said they felt 'persistent sadness or hopelessness' in 2021, an increase of roughly 60% over the same time period.
Though both high-school girls and boys reported experiencing mental-health challenges, girls reported record high levels of violence, sadness and suicide risk, the CDC said. In 2021, 57% of high-school girls reported experiencing persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness in the past year, compared with 36% in 2011. Thirty percent reported they seriously considered attempting suicide in 2021, up from 19% in 2011. -WSJ
When it comes to boys in high school, 29% reported persistent feelings of sadness and hopelessness in 2021 vs. 21% in 2011, while 14% reported seriously considering a suicide attempt, up from 13% in 2011.
Following the survey, federal officials noted a spike in mental health among young people - particularly girls, in new data released on Monday which was gathered from a biennial survey spanning 2011 to 2021, of 9th through 12th-graders across the country.
According to mental health experts, girls are particularly vulnerable to anxiety and depression, given higher rates of harassment and discrimination they face compared with boys. And of course, now they're all competing with TikTok Barbies who set even more unrealistic and unhealthy standards.
And as the Wall Street Journal notes, the evidence suggests that the stress, isolation and loss during the pandemic amplified mental health issues among young people who were already struggling.
"These data show our kids need far more support to cope, hope and thrive," said CDC chief medical officer, Debra Houry.
According to the CDC, there LGBTQ teens are showing 'ongoing and extreme distress,' with more than half of these students reporting a recent episode of poor mental health, and 22% reporting an actual suicide attempt in the past year.
If the Health Care Industry can’t offer gender affirming healthcare to minors no wonder these girls want to hurt themselves.
But maybe the almighty Health Care Industry can make a little money with “Assisted End Of Life Consultations”...sarc

The constant barrage of Earth-ending “Climate Change” will add to the development of nihilism...That and social media where one’s instant worth is measured by likes. The loss of religion and faith as well as hope and dreams. All of it adds up to today’s situation.
Big part is lack of male companionship resulting in loneliness and diminished self worth. The boys have been cowered into believing their nature is toxic.
Happens when the lefty culture calls flirting “rape”.
It seems to me that society currently bends over backwards to give women whatever they want. Men are the problem, so screw the men. Give the ladies what they want — that’s justice.
And it has been my experience that women will make a lot of demands, and the quickest way to make them absolutely miserable is to just give them what they ask for. They hate that. It’s very odd, but I really see this all the time. I’m not surprised young women are unhappy: society caters to them.
Look at how they’re attacked by Democrats. Transvestites in their locker rooms and bathrooms?
A kitten and puppy were my greatest investments during covid.
If society was serious about teen suicide they’d help boys out a lot more. Their rate of suicides dwarf the girls. Most girls aren’t serious about it and do it for attention. Bous are far more likely to actually make a geniune effort thats not for attention.
I have 3 girls in high school, they’re happy (much happier than I was) and have not mentioned any friends dealing with serious depression or thoughts of self-harm.

I have wondered about that paradox as well.
It’s easy to see why. We need more trans-life to straighten them out.
I hear of more and more parents having problems with their teenage girls. Something is going real wrong in our country and our so called leaders are focused on the inane.
I talk to very bright H.s. grads (girls) and most tell me their number one goal in life is to pursue the solution to climate change, and to quote Brandon, I’m not kidding man.

I’m suspicious of surveys like this. How do we know how many girls truly contemplated suicide - just because they said so on a survey?
How many girls or their parents actually consulted mental health providers over suicide fears?

I saw another survey yesterday that said 63% of Americans are giving or receiving Valentine’s Day gifts related to cannabis. Yeah, sure.
