He was not a nice guy.
He was also a fraud: carried empty suitcases up the stairs on AF1, pretending to be a "man of the people."

Most absurd title for an article this year...

The peanut farmer was a radical leftist fellow-traveling progressive when he was elected President...

I was wondering if he was at least a faithful brother in Christ. He supported female pastors (in direct defiance to Paul’s teachings), and much worse, he actually claimed Jesus would approve of homosexual unions. So, no. No common ground there.

Carter was put in there to split the “Christian Vote”.
He did a head fake and got in.
Reagan won because he went after Carter in a humors way.
By making fun of him.

The current GOP would have lost to Carter.

Carter made some mistakes, and some of the stuff was beyond his control. Unfortunately, the hostage rescue ended disastrously with 8 Americans killed, but he didn’t get us bogged down in wars.

Remember, Reagan made mistakes too. He stuck us with the Bushes, he stuck us with Colin Powell because he wanted to be the first president to make a black general, Sandra Day O’Connor, he gave us the amnesty for 5 MILLION illegals and didn’t do anything to secure the border. Maybe the worst of all he invited in a bunch of neo-con warmongers who were liberals who fled the democrat party because the democrats had become (at that time anyway) a peace party. That move brought us into direct military involvement in the Middle East for the first time, starting with 241 Marines killed in the Beirut bombing, and all the other never-ending wars in the Middle East.

I think sometimes republicans forget all that and are captivated by the fact that Reagan won two huge landslide elections. I’d like to see the republicans win elections like that again, but without all the bad stuff that followed.

He competes with the Messiah of Chicago as best ex-president. We’re very happy that both are ex-presidents.

Reagan was the right President for his times.

This is not the same country it was in Reagan’s time.

Carter didn’t come from the liberal McGovern wing of the party. He won the nomination and the election because he didn’t. When he ran for reelection many liberals were so dissatisfied with him that they voted for independent John Anderson. Sure Carter looked like a liberal or progressive compared to Reagan, but progressives didn’t see it like that.

Carter caused the mideast problems we still are having to deal with. I hope Israel with Saudi’s help will soon destroy Iran’s nuclear weapon facilities.

Ted Kennedy pretty much torpedoed Carter’s re-election chances.

No, he wasn't. That is the point.

Like Obama and Biden he got the policies through that he wanted. They are not inept. They are not doing what is good for America but that is on purpose.

Most of the country wasn’t aware that there was an Evangelical vote before Carter, and it’s debatable whether there was. Carter put “born again” in the news, and won the votes of Evangelicals, who hadn’t voted as a bloc before that.

He was a crummy president, but he did that on his own. He was picked up early by the media and promoted, but that was because they thought he could win for them, not because he was going to split the “Christian vote.”

The Dear Leader has done nothing since leaving office to warrant respect or appreciation. Carter has devote his life to doing good Christian work. Ah, maybe that’s the difference between a Christian and a member of the Islamic Cult.

Jimmy Carter is the godfather of islamic terrorism. The destruction of the Twin Towers can be traced straight back to Jimmy Carter’s betrayal of the Shah of Iran.

Jimmeh was an asshole, is an a#hole, and will die as an a#hole unless he repents of his arrogance of being proud of his stance on abortion as well as numerous other s#hole ideas. I like him otherwise
