They would protect the interests of the cartels and the pols that are being paid by them.
The cartels have been growing for a long time. First they conquered the northern Mexico states. Then they conquered all of Mexico. Now they are working on our border states.
The wizards of smart in DC either can’t see this or they are on the payroll as well. I tend to think that they are paid to look the other way. Paid well.
