Fifteen suspects were arrested for stealing over $38 million from low-income Southern California families.

The suspects targeted funds disbursed through CalWORKs and CalFresh programs, which “help low-income beneficiaries purchase food and provide for basic needs,” said the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

In total, over $38.9 million was stolen from victims’ EBT cards for the food stamp program, officials said.

More repercussions from Biden's open borders. Anyhow it wasn't stolen from low-income families it was stolen from American taxpayers

Only in Cauliphonya would “low-income families” have $38 million bucks to steal.

It was stolen from the US government who first stole it from the taxpayers, but that’s just a detail. You’re correct in that it wasn’t stolen from low income families. They were simply receivers of stolen good that got waylaid by someone else first.
The government can’t give anything to anyone that it first doesn’t take from someone else. For everyone who receives without working someone else works without receiving

This is the main area Americans do not understand about some cultures. People who have lived under repressive governments such as Communist or dictatorships do not have the same morals and are masters on how to manipulate a system. Why? Because in order to survive they literally had to learn how to lie, cheat and steal to survive. They also look at the government as evil. Government is not going to make your life better, government is the source of your misery. Hence anything they can get away with is just par for the course. That is the mindset of different cultures, and ours is not prepared to deal with those type of people

I wonder if anyone has added up how much money, govt and religious non profit, goes to people for “basic needs” I suspect the number is huge to the point of ridiculous.

I wonder how many of those “low income families” have pets, flat screen TVs, smoke, drink alcoholic beverages, etc. you can spot people in the grocery store who are going to pay with EBT cards. They separate the dog food, prepared meals, wine, and the beer from the steaks, frozen pizzas, roasts, and actual staples and pay for the latter with the EBT card and the former with cash or another card.

15 is the tip of the iceberg.

Lots of theft of medicare/medical as well - entire thieving networks that it takes the feds years to unravel and break - and millions upon millions missing.

Always foreign nationals.

Yep- the fraud out there is staggering.

Had a couple of Muslim taxi drivers/gas station owners caught not long ago running some massive multi m8llion dollar scam bilking medicaid. They drove welfare peeps to and from appointments, putting in claims for things that they never did. I forget now just how they did it, but it was apparently worth millions.

Read awhile back that a Muslim was operating a “school”, collecting federal and state funds. Only problem was that there was no actual school- they had gotten away with it for awhile.

I suspect that most charities and programs for the poor have considerable leaks like this.

In California, it is mostly Eastern Europeans who run these scams - they are reported in our local paper ONLY. Once they figure out the feds are after them, they retreat to the “old country” which has no extradition policy with the U.S.

One I remember one involved a sophisticated medicare scam - the scammers had their own doctors, medical supply company, agents, etc., all up and down the food chain, top to bottom. Took the feds two years to figure it all out - after tens of millions of dollars had been stolen from the system. Caught a few, others escaped. I’ve heard same with insurance fraud.

Another one involved an Iranian who leased out at least 20, new, high-end cars “for his business” - he sold all of the cars and then fled to Iran with the cash. Good luck bringing that guy to justice.

Always foreign nationals?

You bet, almost always.

The opportunities for fraud in the U.S. is endless. America has become nothing more than a punching bag full of cash. The more they punch it the more cash they get.

Yep. We had another Muslim tire shop owner who was also scamming and sending g the money back to his country. His comercials were all over tv, and he was a major tire supplier in our area. He did get caught and convicted thankfully, but some of the folks who did business with him who learned about what he had done were shocked, as they knew him “as a nice guy” and couldn’t understand how he did what he did.

A survey was taken of Muslims once which asked which nation they felt subject too, and about 1/2 responded their nation of origin and not the us. Th3 number was likely higher, because in their religion, they beleive its a-ok to “lie to Infidels” - there’s a term for it too.

Sounds like a typical democRAT. Besides, they will have three meals and a cot.

I suspect the jails and prisons where they come from are not as nice /s
