42 House Democrats voted YEA (216-204) 1 US Senator (Manchin) voted YEA (50-46) 4 US Senators did not vote (predictably)
So why is this “Breaking News for FReepers”
Could this be the first of many votes that shift power in the Senate to the Republicans?
Why did President Biden announce that he will NOT use his VETO power on this vote?
More to follow after comments.
Not Voting - 4
Crapo (R-ID)
Feinstein (D-CA)
Fetterman (D-PA)
Merkley (D-OR)
H.J.Res.24 - Disapproving the action of the District of Columbia Council in approving the Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2022.
My point is this will likely be the way votes will go down for the foreseeable future.
What say you?
HJ Res 124 House vote was (260-124) any guesses as to how the Senate will vote?
While I’m not at all surprised, it still disturbs me greatly to see just how many elected officials hate their own country.
You are right that for the nest short period, FinkStink and Fetterman Massacre, the Human Ox, are gonna be tough votes for Ds as these two literally may be brain dead and at best are MIA.
Biden has to be the dumbest person in the Government. He has to be demented and is being told what to say and do.
I wasn’t going to go there as those 2 votes would only result in 50-48.
I think Manchin could make a huge power move and caucus with Republicans if that would make 51-49
That is one of several points to analyze in the big scheme of things
Yes it is quite disturbing and portentous.
I think the absence of the braindeads will be far more important over time. Not sure Fetterman Massacre, the Human Ox, is coming back any time soon.
Looking at the vote tally as an indicator of how future votes will predictably fall. Given the current totality if the circumstances the Senate vote on HJ RES 24 is likely to fall. And President Biden has announced he will NOT veto through his press secretary when pushed for a “veto” decision disapproval of the DC Voting issue. Which essentially means DC Statehood will not happen with current congress.
Congress is supposed to legislate for DC “in all cases whatsoever”.
If you don’t know the significance of that phrase in the history of 1766-1776, Google it.
The idea of a local DC government passing “laws” is repugnant to the Constitution and should be dissolved immediately.
I agree with your statement however the question is not so much about the analysis of this particular vote but more to the larger analysis of the voting trends of the US Senate.
Is the Senate actually leaning a bit right even though Democrats hold the majority?
Bttt
However Biden's handlers have been most successful to our collective dismay:
American Recovery Act, Infrastructure, Chips Act, Inflation Act,Same sex marriage, just to name a few.
Team Biden accomplished in two years what Obama could by not do in eight. America is being fundamentally transformed.
I do see a transformation taking place in Gen Z.
On a completely different subject but relevant to the broader discussion on the future of the USA and quite frankly the world as a whole.
What do you think about the rapid increase in a “Biblical World View” among college students today? (Asbury Revival case in point no end in sight)
