Idaho Senate lurches to the left
Idaho Freedom Foundation ^ | March 13, 2023 | Staff

Just when we thought the Idaho Senate couldn’t get any more left-of-center, two actions on Monday make us reconsider. One has to do with illegal immigration, and the other has the state funding abortions, transgender “medicine,” and social justice.

First, immigration: Last Friday, when most in the Idaho Legislature took time off to honor the life of former Governor Phil Batt, a handful of legislators pushed through a resolution calling for amnesty for illegal immigrants!

Sens. Treg Bernt, Linda Hartgen, Chuck Winder, and Reps. Judy Boyle, Chenele Dixon, Rod Furniss, Stephanie Mickelsen, Jack Nelson, and Jerald Raymond co-sponsored Senate Joint Memorial 101, which calls for the federal government to reform our immigration system. SJM 101 includes an explicit call for amnesty of illegal aliens currently working in the United States.

Rather than holding a public hearing on the measure, Senate leadership sent the proposal straight to the floor for a vote. On Monday, conservative senators moved to send it back to a committee where it belonged so that the public could weigh in. But the motion was voted down. Not only that, but Sen. Winder chastised them for daring to do such a thing!

Does Sen. Winder — the President Pro Tempore of the Idaho Senate — represent legal citizens or illegal migrants? Does he answer to the people of Idaho or to the big businesses who want to import a servant class of cheap labor? Does he care at all about the flood of fentanyl, other drugs, and human trafficking across our borders? Border security should be the priority.

We have a bunch of crony-capitalist RINO’s. It’s very disappointing.

Those breakaway Oregon counties may want to try joining a different state.

Or maybe Idaho and Oregon can make a trade.

They need eastern Oregon counties, to bring back the normal balance of power.

Leftist have figured out that they need to run as Republicans here. Just yesterday I got an unsolicited text from a group calling itself NIRPAC (North Idaho Republicans PAC) encouraging me to vote “yes” on a school bond levy that local Republicans are not supporting, including the Kootenai County Republican Party. Lots of shenanigans from the RINOs, GOPe, and progressives to fool the public. It works enough of the time that RINOs and Progressives in Conservative Clothing (I like to call them “PRICCs”) get elected.

“And here I thought the Idaho state government was solid conservative Republican.”

More proof the Republican Party hasn’t the desire or will to save the Republic.

CA discovered a long time ago that if it send donations to key GOP, they can get them to change their vote.
The advantage is two fold.
They get the votes they want and it splits the GOP vote so eventually they are easy to beat in future election.

AZ, ID and UT.
All following the plan.

The liberal disease spreads.

Not too long ago Washington and Oregon were conservative bastions.

RINO Governor Brad Little on down. Only the AG Raul Labrador could be called conservative.

The Idaho Republican Party apparatus is now controlled by MAGA forces though.

This is the process of Californication. Leftist Cali infest lightly populated neighboring states, slither their way into local and state politics and finally flip the state to the dems forevermore.

Agreed, the election cycle here is allowing tax and spend idiots to game the system. They’ll eventually get it to pass simply through voter fatigue.

I know several conservative folks that didn’t even know there was an election today. Rest assured that given the number of “Vote Yes” signs I’ve seen around town (and no “Vote No” signs), the big money teacher’s unions are behind this tax increase.

My neighbors on both sides, neither of whom have children (millennial DINKs on the left, single white middle age female on the right), each have “Yes” signs up in their yards. I really wanted a “No” sign to shove in their faces, but couldn’t find one.

We are getting out of Kooentai County ourselves...too many folks moving in that never met a bond or tax initiative they wouldn’t approve. They don’t realize that they are funding the leftists with these “it’s for the kids” initiatives. This is how the left takes root.

We are building in Boundary ourselves. We can’t wait to get up there; hopefully by the end of the year.
