New York Lawmakers Inch Closer to Banning Gas Stoves
Breitbart ^ | 03/24/2023 | Paul Bois

Posted on 03/24/2023 7:09:49 AM PDT by ChicagoConservative27

New York lawmakers have inched closer to banning gas stoves and fossil fuel appliances in most buildings and also single-family homes.

The proposal in the Democrat-controlled state will move forward with the state budget at the end of March and Democrats in both chambers of the state legislature have “endorsed proposals to prohibit fossil fuel furnaces, water heaters, clothes dryers and gas stoves in most new construction,” according to POLITICO.

New York would be the first to take this step through legislative action; California and Washington have done so through building codes. An agreement has not been finalized to ensure passage, but the new restrictions are included in all three plans being discussed in Albany.

Supporters see the potential law as a national model that they hope can spur similar action by other states and the federal government to limit fossil fuel use in buildings, which are a major source of greenhouse gas emissions contributing to climate change.

Pat McClellan, policy director at the New York League of Conservation Voters, said New York can set the precedent for the rest of the country to follow.

“If we prove it can be done and we have the political will to do this, it’s going to open the floodgates for other states to take action,” said McClellan.

Then all the restaurants in Manhattan will shut down. Chefs are not going to cook with electric. Embrace the suck.

The end of “fossil” fuels is the end of food.

All part of the plan.

I wish they would. It is about time they got to sample some of the results of their stupidity. And while they are at it, ban gas and coal furnaces and heaters.

I bet a deal will be carved for the Bobby Flay type restaurant establishments. They simply cannot produce their food with electric stoves and microwaves.

All those NYC rich folks are not going to suffer. It is the little guys who will get dumped on.

It’s going to suck even more to live in New York. If that’s even possible.

New York can set the precedent for the rest of the country to follow

And the gas company should immediately halt all sales and deliveries to the entire State. If New Yoek wants to discriminate against New Construction, then we don't want any part of it and all sales and deliveries to New York are permanently suspended.

Do it! Ban gas stoves! Then quickly discover just how irrelevant you are. A great many people are becoming fed up with a small group of people deciding what should be “banned”. Perhaps we should ban leftists.

Well over 5000 MWh of NY electricity is generated by fossil fuels. Vast majority of that is natural gas! This represents over 50% of the energy source for electricity generation in NY. Why stop with natural gas powered appliances? Ban natural gas for producing electricity in NY if you are really serious! Banning natural gas appliances just means burning natural gas to create electricity to power those new appliances! Where is the savings?

The only floodgates will be people and builders moving to Florida.

It’s about abandoning underground deteriorating gas supply lines. Too expensive to fix and not enough skilled workers to do it. Right now in some older east coast cities up to 26% of the gas is leaking out under the streets.

That's nuthin, about 40% of the water is leaking out of the old pipes, the other 60% is infused with lead. Our infrastructure funds were diverted to welfare programs.

I can’t see how this is constitutional. And, anyone who seriously cooks knows that you can’t do it with electric stoves. What if there’s a blackout? Then you couldn’t cook. With the older gas ranges, at least you could strike a match and cook. What about the Hampton biggies? Are they going to surrender their Viking and Wolf ranges? Dream on! These idiotic dimmocommie edicts are only for the little guys, to bring them into line.

Can’t wait for these jackwagons to replace the tens of thousands of gas stoves/ovens in all of the high rises, as well.

What a farce!

Next is a ban on more than 1.5GPM faucets and a ban on bathtubs. No swimming pools either.

It’s amazing the elite want us to all live like New Yorkers. I would hope their way of life would’ve been exposed by Covid. Instead they doubled down.
