Trump Texas rally falls quiet after he mocks Ron DeSantis

The typically raucous crowd at former President Donald Trump’s Waco, Texas, rally didn’t give him any love when he mocked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, his expected presidential rival, on Saturday.

Speaking to his supporters, Trump recounted how DeSantis asked him for an endorsement for his 2018 governor’s race, claiming the Florida Republican came to him with “tears in his eyes.”

The former president ultimately touted himself as DeSantis’ savior, claiming it was his endorsement that secured a win for the Florida governor.

But as Trump imitated DeSantis in a pleading voice, the throngs were unusually silent, failing to cheer as they did when he attacked other foes such as Hillary Clinton or Ted Cruz.

The incident is only the latest in a series of jabs between Trump and DeSantis, as both are poised to be the front-runners for the GOP’s 2024 presidential nomination.

Two things will have on this thread... 1. We need a robust primary and Trump really needs to tone it down and reflect on issues.

There seems to be several reports about this from a variety of news, including Fox. I still haven't watched the video of the event but have watch most over the years, attended 4-5. I know from first hand that Trump sometimes says something that falls flat but I always found remarkeable how he'd pick up in nearly the same breath with something to draw people back in. He is very skilled speaker, regardless of the topic.

And your writing "Desantis is a globalist pig who needs to resign" is a bit uncalled for and unhelpful. First, if Trump is the nominee, he'll need everyone. If DeSantis is, same for him. This focus on DeSantis is not helping Trump, nor the party for 2024.

His success is from contrast.

The reality is it shouldnt be so easy for him to find contrast in someone else whom is supposed to support our views.

Reminds me of the guy who couldn’t stomach compassionate conservatism and called the most successful economic system of all time-voodoo economics. He instantly brought the end of the Reagan revolution. Despite Ron being immensely popular the GOP has yet to this day run a candidate that matched his ideals. DeSantis will vanish MAGA just as quickly if not faster.
