The U.S. Department of Defense made a formal referral to the Department of Justice after planning documents relating to the war in Ukraine leaked online.
Military documents containing sensitive information about U.S. and NATO material supporting the Ukraine military in their fight against Russian forces began appearing on social media.
"We are aware of the reports of social media posts, and the Department is reviewing the matter," Sabrina Singh, Pentagon deputy press secretary, said Friday morning.
Friday night, Singh said the DOD has made a referral to the DOJ regarding the leak.

My view is the same no matter the administration: whoever did this needs to be identified and they need to throw the book at him

How do we know the CIA didn’t didn’t dump these documents out there to shut down non government controlled social media.
Couldn’t agree more, the vermin who did this should take a long drop on a short rope. But, the Pentagon’s casualty estimates are horrendous for the Ukrainians, and from the numbers published, the Russians are clearly winning. That’s what I’ve seen in every report about these documents, that someone has manipulated the casualties to present a “false” picture, when in reality, it’s probably the true picture.
I used to think like that. Now I am appealing to Rome for the beatification of Edward Snowden.
Government documents were originally classified to keep sensitive or harmful information out of the hands of evil-doers and America’s enemies.
Now documents are classified by politicians and bureaucrats to keep American citizens in the dark about what our tyrannical government is doing,
especially information that would embarrass the politicians and bureaucrats or be detrimental to their agendas, careers and re-elections.
Who can rely on anything the U.S. government produces?
I can easily believe the Pentagon wants Russia to buy nonsense they have intentionally generated and the Pentagon probably released the maps.
Fraud is a way of life inside the U.S. government which cannot win an actual war so relies upon manipulating reality.
I remember the story about the man who ran out of cheese to put in his mouse trap. He put a picture of cheese in the trap one night. The next morning, he found a picture of a mouse in the sprung trap.
The Russians can watch what is actually happening from satellites in real time.

The giveaway that these documents were PURPOSELY leaked was that the New York Times reported on the details in the documents, which they were obviously given the green light to do.
As it is, one would think the Russians aren’t as STUPID as the Neocons think they are, so this transparent attempt to supply them with false information might fool the Ukraine Cheerleaders, but it won’t come close to fooling the Russians.
They knew who it was before it leaked.
They just won’t tell us.
