The Seattle Police Department should offer a “sincere, public apology” for its response to protesters who took to the streets in 2020 after the death of George Floyd, a community panel urged in a report made public Tuesday.
An apology from the police department would be a significant step in building trust between police and Seattle communities, the report outlined.
In all 22 recommendations were delivered by Seattle’s Office of Inspector General, most of which address Seattle Police policies, tactics, and training.
“Acknowledge the harm to BIPOC community caused by Seattle Police actions over time and issue a public apology for the actions of Seattle Police during the 2020 protests,” was the direct summation.

The way this country has pussified men they probably agree.
The apology should take the form of a mass resignation, to show sincerity. Let social workers take their place. That way Seattle can truly heal.
Apologize my ass. The cops need to go in an rough up these azhos on their panel. Just knock their fat dumb asses around a little bit.
The panel is highlighting the need for local Seattleites to realize that they need to control the ‘out of control’ groups like this ‘panel’. I know several conservative folks in Seattle that are ready to change Washington back to te beautiful State that is once was. Sadly, not enough have made that commitment yet, and my conservative friends are starting to leave.
These aren’t “apologies” the panel is demanding. They are something else. They come with strings, or more aptly, a leash.
The rank and file will meet after work and shake their heads at the stupidity of the city heads, while the command staff will agree to the BS propagated by the city.
I think a statement by the police should include a demand for the insurrectionists to apologize to the good people of the city for the destruction the scum caused.
I am very sorry for the way we responded to the riots and I can assure you it won’t happen again. If confronted with in the future with brazen lawlessness, looting and rioting, All of my officers will have Orders to SHOOT ON SITE ALL LOOTERS AND RIOTERS.

Saw a KOMO News interview with the Seattle Police Chief last Friday. SPD is severely understaffed. Full staffing goal would require an additional 380 officers. Officers have been quitting faster than new hires coming in. Morale is that bad among the normal beat officers.
The Seattle Police Department should resign and move to a red state.

Our little town (95% white) is hiring police. It would definitely be an easier job than Seattle. Its mostly just watching for drunk drivers coming off the highway. Our last murder was about 15 years ago.

Jenny Durkan needs to apologize, reprimanded with HUGE civil penalties and locked up in an insane asylum for her dereliction of duty. It’s bad here. I’m a fighter too. We had real success turning several formally blue counties red and one whole 3 county legislative district.
The problem is the 3 county area called Pugetopolis comprised of King, (Seattle), Pierce, (Tacoma), and Snohomish counties on the west side of the state and Spokane County on the east side. There’s also a little area down by the Columbia River across from Portlandia that’s reliably liberal too.
Those 4 counties ruin this state. They are the most populous and in the case of Spokane they are where the big universities live.
As those counties grow they stifle any conservative voices coming out of the 35 other counties. Imagine living in a state with 39 counties being dominated by 4. It’s always been that way here. One long dead former congressman then senator from 1943-1981 Warren Magnuson once said “You can see every vote needed to win a statewide election from the observation deck of the Space Needle!” Nothing has changed, except.
Except, conservatives in the 35 sane counties are moving out, I would be gone too if my wife would go. We have 7 grandkids and 13 great-grandkids she doesn’t want to move away from. It’s driving us towards insanity.
