Saving Sex for Marriage Leads to Happier Marriages, Study Finds
The Washington Stand ^ | 25 April 2023 | Dan Hart

A new study conducted by Brigham Young University’s Wheatley Institute has found that individuals who saved sex for marriage have significantly higher levels of marital satisfaction than those who had multiple sexual partners before marriage, confirming what numerous previous studies also found.

“Our study confirms what other national studies have been finding the last few years, that sexually inexperienced dating couples are two to three times more likely to be in a highly stable marriage,” said Brian J. Willoughby, a Wheatley Institute fellow and co-author of the report.

As Willoughby observed in an Institute for Family Studies article laying out the report’s findings, conventional and popular cultural notions in America have often emphasized the idea that gaining “sexual experience” via premarital sex is an important step toward achieving a stable marriage. “Many people believe that it is important for couples to test their ‘sexual chemistry’ while dating and for single adults to gain ‘sexual experience’ before marriage to sample one’s options and eventually select a spouse better suited to their preferences,” he wrote. “Also, many believe that young people need to experiment sexually while they are single so that they will be ‘ready to settle down and get married’ when the time comes.”

More evidence that following God's laws leads to happiness and following the advice of the devil and the deep state (but I repeat myself) leads to misery.

I believe it. It’s too easy to be lured by what you once had.... if it was better.

I believe it, not because of some "study," which will be inherently flawed and biased, but because it was the way that God designed man in his perfect state.

Yes; the Law of God and Biblical wisdom knew all this from the start.

Roughly one out of every two people have some form of VD. It may be curable or not. It may be known, or not.

Does anyone want to get something from another person that could rot their sexual organ or blunt their lifespan, all for an instant of feeling?

This is not how you endear yourself to another, even if taking God out of the matter (which you really can’t).

People who jump into bed on a hat drop have these concerns. No self control is evident.

Yesterday was 36 years for us. We followed God’s principles, are happily married and have four great successful kids.

The Bible is God’s operating manual to humans on how to both live life most successfully as an individual, and how to build a stable society

I believe it, not because of some "study," which will be inherently flawed and biased, but because it was the way that God designed man in his perfect state.

The study can be dismissed by pro-fornicators who argue that being promiscuous indicates such are more difficult to please (esp. if homosexuals are included) and less stable, versus the continent and disciplined, but it remains that God made man and women distinctively different yet uniquely compatible and complementary, and only joined them together in marriage - as the Lord Jesus Himself specified (Mt. 19:4–6) - and Scripture only condemns any other relations wherever they are manifestly dealt with.

We made it to 38 years, three great successful kids.

God called her home late last year. I miss the sex, but I miss her more. Much more.

All for sanctity of sex in marriage, but this study might imply that people with many sex partners before marriage are less stable people in general…

Note that the BYU study suggests not having "multiple sexual partners before marriage". LOL

Well, yeah, generally they are. Which political persuasion features more people with poor impulse control?

Indeed. Homosexuals have been attempting to create marriage "in their own image," literally making a 180 degree turn immediately after Obergefell was decided and saying that "open marriages" are actually "beneficial." They couldn't say this when the issue was still in the courts.

It's the definition of wickedness.

And maybe that implication is true. It might also imply things about people who repeatedly commit adultery and repeatedly divorce and remarry. Maybe that pattern of behavior suggests instability as well.

But we wouldn't want to go there, now would we? That might hurt somebody's feelings.

Believe it or not; there is a reason why some mammals mate for life and some do not. The same reason offspring bond with their mothers...

It’s not just a physiological bonding. It also has a strong bio chemical aspect. And yes, it can be attributed to our creator.

Some mammals, including humans, have receptors in their genitals and even their breasts and lips, that leave an imprint of the DNA of other’s that they are intimate with.

With some species, this is hardwired into their brains. When this is diluted by multiple partners, or artificial means such as baby bottles, condoms etc., it leaves us screwed up.

One problem with modern life is that if you want a good job your education will last until your mids-20s.

If you can’t support a family until you are 25 do you remain single all that time?
