Fox Panel Flames DeSantis: ‘Everything About Florida That You Love – DeSantis Inherited’

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis hasn’t even officially announced his 2024 presidential candidacy, but that didn’t stop a Fox Business panel from offering a brutal assessment of his standing in the Republican field.

The governor has barnstormed the country in recent months, especially early primary and caucus states where he hopes to drum up support ahead of his anticipated announcement this week. Polling shows him well behind former President Donald Trump.

On Monday’s edition of Kudlow, Larry Kudlow, Mark Simone, and Pete Hegseth discussed the ways they feel DeSantis has underperformed.

“I’m waiting for DeSantis to show me an economic prosperity agenda,” Kudlow said. “This is going to be a pocketbook election. This is going to be a kitchen table election. And the candidate who has a good, strong, pro-growth, pro-prosperity agenda is going to win.”

Kudlow chided DeSantis over his vendetta against Disney – one of Florida’s largest employers – after the company opposed legislation he signed into law last year.

“It is all about attacking a company in his state named Disney,” he continued. “He won’t let up. Conservative free market people don’t attack businesses. They do promote jobs and businesses. He hasn’t done that.”

“Everything about Florida that you love – Desantis inherited,” Simone said. “The no state tax, all that stuff. He’s done a great job of running it. But most of that was inherited. You watch DeSantis turn Disney into World War III. Imagine what he would do with Putin. This guy has got problems. He’d be great in 2028. Wait ’til then.”

Hegseth chimed in to hit DeSantis over his handling of questions about Ukraine.

“Part of his rollout that was so poor from DeSantis was being on both sides of the Ukraine issue,” he said, referring to the governor’s dithering on the question of Russia’s war on the country. “Trump’s been very clear about it: ‘It didn’t happen under my watch and it wouldn’t have happened. And I don’t want to start foreign wars.’ DeSantis kind of tip-toed on the establishment route and then went another direction.”

Simone essentially opined that DeSantis lacks people skills.

“He’s got all the drama of Trump without the charm or the humor,” he said. “That’s his problem.”

It is wonderful that DeSantis did more things after JEB! to fix election fraud but he did not turn Florida red. Florida had been red. Dems only dreamed it was 50-50.

Election reforms and dem mistakes led to change in Miami. But the state of Florida was already quite republican even before Miami turned republican. It is a great blessing that the dems couldn’t crank the vote machine to help their candidates.

Florida never had 2 republican senators till after DeSantis was elected.

DeSantis’ first election was 50-50. His second was 60-40.

You go from one little citation to another but ignore the big picture. The state of Florida is not just one person, one election or one elective office. Look at Florida as a whole. Or, keep being fooled by the democrat controlled media, your choice.

Removing elected officials is part of the big picture.

"Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday issued an executive order suspending Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher, effective immediately. The order follows the recommendation of Secretary of State Michael Ertel to remove Bucher from office.

The governor, in another executive order, officially acknowledged the resignation of Dr. Brenda Snipes as Broward County supervisor of elections, effective Jan. 4, formally terminating her duties.

Those are wonderful actions cleaning up Palm Beach and Broward Counties. Broward in particular was a godsend. But If Miami had remained in democrat hands, all of his reforms could have been overridden by the Miami/Dade vote machine.

So although I was happy to see the DeSantis reforms, I had no delusions that they were the main reason for a change in Florida national elections.

You are correct. It is part of the big picture. It seems as if DeSantis is claiming all of the picture for himself. Florida has been republican for some time. DeSantis claiming to be Florida’s one and only savior of republicanism is a bit odd.

I somehow doubt this - only scenario for that would be Trump decided to drop out.

I hate the fact that loyal republicans are attacking their own and in the process, setting the GOP for another round of electoral underperformance.

It’s all about rooting out the true Christians and conservatives from the Republican party, and moving the party to the left. The main battle line is whether you condone the homo agenda or not, or are willing to accept politicians who do, for any reason.
