Weighing in on Twitter, cult men’s wear commentator Derek Guy (@dieworkwear) called out the footgear as a clear lapse in dignity, if not actual protocol. Why pay a visit to a sitting president dressed in shoes designed for power-walking at the mall?

We were very fortunate to have had three West Wing tours during the Trump administration and each time, I wore a jacket, dress shirt & tie. Only one time was Trump at the WH and the night we had our tour, he was at a wedding for Stephen Miller at Trump Tower.

Agreed. I recently saw similar on two speakers at a seminar. At first they hit me as “off,” then I realized they were brilliant- tasteful uppers but a more physics and body friendly soul. We need friendlier souls!
