He would've probably got fired had he stopped at an unapproved bus stop instead--the thug put him in a no-win situation but at least the former bus driver went home alive that night.

Well, the driver did what he felt was necessary. He carried for the day something like this happened. He lost his job but he’s not dead. And at least it wasn’t just because someone ratted him out.
I guarantee his boss’s boss’s boss wouldn’t have given two thoughts if he’d died.
