The ‘Bloody’ Truth About Lab-Grown Meat
The defender ^ | June 6, 2023 | Dr. Joseph Mercola

Posted on 06/11/2023 9:57:23 AM PDT by ConservativeInPA

Most cultured meat companies still use fetal bovine serum as the growth medium, which is obtained from unborn calves that are cut out of the womb and drained of their blood while still alive.

Story at a glance:

• While the fake meat industry is being touted as an environmentally friendly and sustainable way to feed the world, the true intent is to recreate the kind of global control that Monsanto and others achieved through patented GMO (genetically modified organism) seed development.

• Researchers at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) warn there are major environmental downsides to lab-grown meat. According to their “cradle-to-gate life cycle” analysis, the lab-grown meat industry produces up to 25 times more CO2 than traditional animal husbandry, which nullifies the core ideological foundation upon which the industry is built.

• Each kilo of cultured meat produces anywhere from 542 pounds (246 kilos) to 3,325 pounds (1,508 kg) of carbon dioxide emissions, making the climate impact of cultured meat four to 25 times greater than that of conventional beef.

• At present, most cultured meat companies still use fetal bovine serum (FBS) as the growth medium, which is obtained from unborn calves that are cut out of the womb and drained of their blood while still alive. Hence, most claims of cultured meat being animal-free or free of animal cruelty are false. Mission Barns is developing imitation bacon made from a mix of cultured meat, cell-cultured pork fat and pea protein. Have the pigs from which the cell samples are taken been treated with mRNA “vaccines,” and if so, is the cultured pork and pork fat safe to eat?

We’re sounding like leftists. Let the market rule. Then fight the left when they limit your choice like they’re doing with EV’s.

Same with dogs. Some communities won’t let you use your own money for a purebred-gotta go to the shelter and pick out a pit bull mix.

Well, that, and it takes 60x the amount of CO2 to manufacture than the current product.

Its a phenomenon I call the “Frankenstein Left.”

Anything God, Natural Law, or human society have developed naturally over human history, they attempt to bound, control, re-invent, and promote according to the post-modern Left’s perverse emotions and power games. On the surface it appears somewhat recognizable, but its actually an empty, ugly and perverse facsimile - just like Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein

Whether it is gay-marriage, PC sexual consent, Christian equality or even pretend-meat - its all part of the “Frankenstein Left.”

Letting the market rule would also include not making the taxpayer subsidize this R&D.

If it’s a good idea, the private sector will take the risk and fund the R&D itself and the consumer will decide if he wants the resulting products.

None of that is happening.

The Left wants to take the very long route around 4 or five times to try to get to where we are now ,LOL

You know what’s next. Lab-grown homosapien meat using human fetal serum. Someone’s probably already doing it.

I’m completely surprised that they’re not growing ‘meat’ on the backs of lab rats, LOL!

I’m going out to the barn to hug my steer and feed him a beer! ;)

Low carbon footprint

High carbon footprint

Low carbon footprint(from article that calls this sustainable)

High carbon footprint

It's like they don't realize what it takes to manufacture all this infrastructure and then run it. I work at a place that makes plastic film and bags. Their electric bill is $50k a month.

But what this really comes down to is wealth changing hands and control via patents. Instead of farmers, it will be "growing technicians". Fake Meat processes will be patented as will the equipment. Vertically farmed crops will be CRISPR Cas9 patented plant varieties.

The cells themselves if found growing in the animal would be diagnosed as cancer because of their fast growth rate.

It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the lab grown meat ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday […] it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it. [...] The eyeless crature at the other table swallowed it fanatically. passionately, with a furious desire to track down, denounce, and vaporize anyone who should suggest that last week the ration had been thirty grams. Syme, too-in some more double complex way, involving doublethink-Syme, swallow it. Was he, then, alone in the possession of a memory?
Orwell George, 1984

You will no there is no recovery when your lab grown meat ration is cut.

“Most cultured meat companies still use fetal bovine serum as the growth medium, which is obtained from unborn calves that are cut out of the womb and drained of their blood while still alive.”

So they kill a calf so they can use it’s blood to grow meat in a lab. How much meat can they grow that way? So unless they can grow many times the meat the calf would have produced this seems to be ridiculous. Well, at least lab grown meat doesn’t fart ... or does it?
