American and European military observers in Ukraine described the Ukraine Army’s efforts of the past two days as a “suicide mission” that violated the basic rules of military tactics. “If you want to conduct an offensive and you have a dozen brigades and a few dozen tanks, you concentrate them and try to break through. The Ukrainians have been running around in five different directions,” complained a senior European officer.
“We tried to tell them to stop these piecemeal tactics, define a main thrust with proper infantry support and then do what they can,” the officer added.
They were trained by the British and they’re playing Light Brigade,” the officer added, referring to the 1854 disaster at the Battle of Balaclava when misreported orders sent British cavalry into massed cannon fire.
Ukraine’s tanks charged directly into minefields without deploying mine-clearing vehicles first, contributing to the loss of 38 tanks during the night of June 8, including numerous of the newly delivered Leopard II tanks.
“A couple of Ukrainians tried to pull off a Guderian,” another military source said, referring to German General Heinz Guderian’s breakthrough at Sedan during the 1940 Battle of France. “But Guderian had 3,000 tanks, and these idiots have just gambled away the 30 they have.”
And without air superiority,” the source added, “it’s a suicide mission.”
Russia’s KA-50 and KA-52 attack helicopters each carry enough missiles to kill 20 tanks, and can do so at a standoff distance of 10 kilometers. Ukrainian air defenses have been degraded by repeated attacks with cheap drones that force the Ukrainians to expend their limited inventory of S-300 and Patriot missiles. Of the 14 Leopard tanks Germany has provided to Ukraine, 3 have been destroyed, along with several of the Leopards provided by Poland.
The Ukrainian high command’s principle military advice has come from British officers embedded at headquarters in Kiev.
Why is the West so intent on committing suicide.
I am just a layman who enjoys military history . I found the Ukrainians attacking along the entire front baffling. There is a German term for the decisive point where your offensive fist should be concentrated. I do not think the UK military advisors would make a mistake of launching these piecemeal attacks.

Because it’s part of THE PLAN.
Here is my assessment: Ukraine wants the West to take over the war. The sooner they deplete their forces, the faster they think the US/Nato will come in and take over. I don’t think that is going to happen.

Unfortunately, I think everyone saw this coming. NATO tactics require air superiority.
Expect F-16 and F-18’s in large numbers at Ukraine next, and Abrams tanks.
It gets more dangerous for the region by the day.
Well, they have been training Ukrainian pilots for months.
Lots of them.
They will be young and inexperienced, but there will probably a lot of them. You figure 600-1000 combat ready fighters.
More dead, draws out the killing and more everyday people die. Who is really going to win this war, death?
What a disaster. The German military, or what’s left of it, is fuming how their tanks were wasted.

Add to that Polish, the Poles donated Leopard 2’s also, but the much more valuable ones were lost, the minesweeping Leopards, the Ukies have only three left….it is safe to assume not much of a counter offensive will occur without mine clearing equipment.
Perhaps the strangest fact is the Ukies were guided by Western intelligence and satellite data directing WHERE to attack….sources state they ( western intel) fubared not realizing the density and breadth of Vlad’s mines….
It almost seems the collective West is setting up the Ukies for failure.
I hadn't known about him until someone on FR posted one of his videos. That was a while ago. I've been making my way through all of his YouTube videos a little at a time, along with YouTube videos from people dealing with other periods of history.
The History Guy is good too.
