Florida’s new DeSantis-backed laws address immigration, guns and more

More than 200 new Florida laws take effect Saturday…

… DeSantis has taken a hard line on illegal immigration as he campaigns, saying he’ll finish the Mexican border wall his one-time supporter, Donald Trump, promised to build... he doesn’t just talk tough on illegal immigration, but he’s put in place what some critics say the harshest state law in the country…

Any company with 25 or more employees to use E-Verify to document new hires’ eligibility to work or face a loss of business license or fines of $1,000 per day per employee…

Hospitals that accept Medicaid to ask patients if they are citizens or legally in the United States and voids drivers licenses issued by other states to people in the country illegally...

Anyone legally able to own a gun to carry it concealed in public without a permit. While concealed weapons permits will still be issued, those choosing to carry without one won’t be subject to a background check or training.

Prohibits credit card companies from tracking gun and ammunition sales to prevent them potentially using the data to flag people who make large purchases.

Florida has also banned colleges from using state or federal funding for diversity, equity and inclusion programs…

Schools will be prohibited from requiring teachers and students to use pronouns that match someone’s gender identity.

Chinese nationals will be banned from purchasing property in large swaths of the state… and also affects citizens of Cuba, Venezuela, Syria, Iran, Russia, and North Korea.

One new law Democrats and Republicans agreed unanimously on is a sales tax exemption on baby and toddler products, including diapers, strollers, cribs and clothing. The tax package also includes exemptions for dental hygiene products and gun safety devices, such as trigger locks.

And I don’t know what the h311 that arrow is pointing to. But maybe it means something to you. Whatever

lol

Reno89519 says 2000 people went to see desantis, and the even t was comparable to the crowd at Trump rallies at minden airport - and uses as facts, a news story that said Trump rally attendence was 10k and the one before, 20k.

But reno says they were comparable in size...

And now Reno89519 may have outed himself as not having been at the basque fry....

because he doesn’t recognize the desantis family going from the tent area, to the stage....

"Why is the ap pushing desanctomonious?"

Anybody but Trump. I learned a long time ago, that when the media pushes a Republican Presidential candidate on the people, to quickly run the other way.

"Ron has been working hard."

DeSantis made sure he'd continue to get a paycheck from the taxpayers by getting the State Legislature to change the "resign to run" law again, just like rino Charlie Crist did when he was Governor. Crist thought he'd be picked as McLame's V.P., but he wasn't. Rick Scott had the law changed back to its original form when he became Governor. The day DeSantis announced his run, he signed the law allowing him to stay in office while running for a higher office. Anybody that thinks DeSantis wasn't planning on running for President when he ran for his second term as Governor is delusional. Trump knew. That's why he came out against DeSantis early, and naive and gullible people couldn't understand why. It's because DeSantis lied to the people of Florida last November, and kept silent on his plans, because he needed a second term to be able to launch his Presidential run from. You don't decide overnight to run for President. The guy is a self-serving prig.

He won’t have to send Joe back to his basement. He never left it, and won’t even have to come out for primary debates, because the DNC already cancelled those to protect Joey.

Perhaps they see a leader getting things done. I know you don’t mind mediocrity, but we in Florida like results. And there are a ton of them.

Who is the country burning?

It wasn’t because of Pres Trump, who is not in public office

Blame Congress and the bureaucracy for that.

Pres Trump accomplished a lot. Except for his 4 guys he had working on trade deals, he did it alone.

“Hospitals that accept Medicaid to ask patients if they are citizens or legally in the United States”

Although I don’t oppose this I doubt it will survive a court challenge.

Same as trump did but with very few results. A half assed tax cut that ends in 2025 and a half done fence which weirdly increased immigration numbers. Such a swell guy.

And how will they determine if someone is in the country illegally?

On a side note, I’m all for it. Thanks for the explanation.

But that a lot of resources to determine someone’s citizenship.

And if say, neither California, NY, Illinois, Washington, Oregon, etc etc cooperate with a request from Florida, concerning someone’s status, then what?

No different than his EVerify law. It does absolutely NOTHING, NADA, ZERO, ZILCH for the 10-man framing crew or concrete crew, landscaper, ditch digger, if it’s only applied to 25 employees or more. Only folks that’ll hurt are the corporate farms, orange growers, etc. wonder if there’s a carve out for them. But most of those guys are using stolen SSNs etc anyway.

He’s in Tallahassee doing his job. Trump is unemployed getting a government pension and social security. So trump has time to vacation.

And DeSantis is going to finish the wall. Where’s he going to get the money?

The Democrats will just roll over for him?

Tax cuts? Those things that are raised or lowered by the House? The place where all things regarding our nations finances originate? The place that could have made them permanent but chose not to so he got from it what he could?

"He’s half Trumps age…give him time"

I think DeSantis shit-canned his political career in Florida by running. He obviously used the people of Florida as a stepping-stone to run. You don't decide overnight to run for President. It takes months of planning. DeSantis hadn't even served the first six months of his second term before he announced his campaign run. He knew he was going to run before his reelection in November of last year, but kept silent because he had to have the Governor's office to run from. And then he manipulated the Republican-run State Legislature to change the law so that he didn't have to resign to run. The only other person who did that in Florida was rino Charlie Crist. Rick Scott had the law changed back to its original state when he became Governor. DeSantis has shown he's willing to use his political office to benefit himself. He set himself up so that when he crashes and burns, he'll still have a paycheck, and an office to skulk back to. He's been devious, slinking around behind the backs of the people of Florida, planning his political future, and I think the people who voted for him last November, won't be willing to forgive or forget.

Who had the trifecta? Pres Trump?

All but about 10 people hated him with a passion. DOJ and FBI tried to put him
In prison….have you heard about the Durham stufff

Dem Governors and their pals in Congress blocked everything they could and he still got things done.

Unlike your boy in Florida that has a Republican majority in the state congress, all but 3 counties are RED. He doesn’t have an AG trying to prosecute him.

Talk about a trifecta. You’re out of your mind.

Are you the Pedro Gonzalez guy from Twitter.
