Not garbage. He’s pretty much right on the mark.
B.S. AI is not capable of creating. It is nothing but massive averaging.
"I'm a little worried about this AI. I want you to find out what' it's got under its fingernails. Go to them and make them think you're not happy with our tech support. Find out what you can."
That makes it the perfect socialist machine.
It may only have the ability to follow orders. I don’t how true that is when those who created the technology says it can think. However, my understanding is that, even if it is limited to meeting objectives, it is able to create innumerable pathways around obstacles to get to that objective.
Even if it is only following its programing, it’s ability to follow programming does not mean it cannot create evil while doing so. Think Nomad, from Star Trek, it became programmed to perfect human beings. It decided to perfect them, the best was to eliminate the imperfect ones and improve the species that way.
HAL: “I’m sorry Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that. “
That’s a lie. It may emulate the process of reasoning, but it only does so by instructions provided to it and available data available to it. But is has no real capability of reason. The programmer does. They are trying to gaslight people with these statements.
I'll listen to him over some internet forum dude such as you.
Just curious, what are your credentials and why should I listen to you over him?
No. That is not thinking. That is running options based on a totality of raw data to arrive at a predetermined outcome. Thinking is the ability to do the opposite, to make decisions based on inadequate information. AI is not capable of thinking.

“what a bunch of BS. Garbage in = garbage out.”
That is what I remember computer geeks saying years ago.
Is that still true? Or can you feed garbage in and get good stuff out?
If it is the latter, will AI be able to spit out a solution to solve the crime problem in Chicago, and will it take longer than 30 seconds?
“Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind,”
“Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.”
Frank Herbert, Dune Author
A machine can be made to imitate different behaviors of a person, including imitating the ambition to dominate others. However, if there has been any progress all in making a machine the kind of thing that can have conscious experiences I have not heard of it. If one believes in Materialism, one must I suppose cling to the notion that human brains/bodies create consciousness as a side effect, however there does not seem to be any explanation of how this occurs and it makes no intuitive sense what so ever. The only reason the Materialist is inclined to believe it is because they have a blind faith that mind which seems to obviously be something not Material is somehow material after all.
“... AI Capable of Reason..”
More than can be said for democrats.
Sci Fi.
We’re just a big neural net,x
......
We are not just a big neural network. We have a non physical mind which uses the net work.
Hinton has both academia and street (meaning corporate) creds to talk on this subject. He notes that general-purpose-AI is still 20+ years away and will make chatgpt look like the toy it is. Generative AI (chatgpt, bard, etc) is nothing like general purpose AI which will change everything if controlled by a single organization or government.
From Wikipedia: “ In 2023, Hinton expressed concerns about the rapid progress of rapid A.I.[32][31] Hinton previously believed that artificial general intelligence (AGI) was “30 to 50 years or even longer away.”[31] However, in a March 2023 interview with CBS, he stated that “general-purpose AI” may be fewer than 20 years away and could bring about changes “comparable in scale with the Industrial Revolution or electricity.”[32]”
I just watched the movie “M3GAN”. AI is creepy!
As governments come to rely on AI who is to say it can’t form it’s own government independently from it’s programmers of those nations. We not dealing with simple calculators anymore but machines that can solve complex problems without conscience or morals.
I can’t get Ai to admit to basic biological truths so I’m not real worried.
