It's Donald Trump or bust: If New Hampshire Republicans could pick their dream president from anyone alive they overwhelmingly choose 2024 frontrunner BUT three percent go for RONALD REAGAN

It's official. The Republican Party is the party of Donald Trump not Ronald Reagan.

Asked to pick their dream president from anyone alive, more than a third of New Hampshire G.O.P primary voters chose the New York property developer-turned politician.

He easily beats the field of 2024 runners as well as wild cards such as Elon Musk or previous candidates such as Sen. Mitt Romney, the 2012 nominee. He even beats Ronald Reagan, often picked by conservatives as the greatest president of all time. Although given the fact he has been dead for almost 20 years he should not have snuck on to the results.

So it is perhaps not surprising that Trump's 35 percent vote share is ten times more than the leader credited with winning the Cold War and who gave his name to a brand of low-tax, small government economics that dominated his party for generations.

They were asked to pick their dream president from anyone ALIVE.

I believe that eliminates Reagan. Your comment does not comport with the question asked....

This is not same country as it was in Reagan’s time. Any comparison is Apples to Oranges.

The “alive” criteria is the key. Donald Trump easily wins.

I am afraid you’re living in the past.

Ronald Reagan was a president who managed taxing and spending policy in a world before QE. Money had not yet been exposed as a substance created from nothingness by the Fed.

It has been, now. The new monetary policy proposals you hear about could not have existed in the 1980s. Bernanke had not created large scale Quantitative Ease.

Money has been exposed as something around which no moral compass can point. It comes from nothingness. How can it have any moral relevancy.

Oh, we have to use it. The system depends on it. But it doesn’t have to mean anything and it does not.

This reality would rob Reagan of any moral direction in policy. It’s why Drain the Swamp overwhelms all such policy traditions. They just can’t mean anything anymore.

Yes, Reagan was fighting Communists abroad, and Liberals Domestically. President Trump is fighting Marxists at home, and the chi coms abroad.

Douglas Wilson, the reformed pastor from Northern Idaho, had a wonderful analogy for Donald Trump when he compared him to chemotherapy. Like chemotherapy is not good for a healthy body nor is Donald Trump good for a healthy body politic but like chemotherapy, Donald Trump is just what is needed for a cancer-ridden body.

Donald Trump is needed to drain the swamp and probably a successor of the same ilk to complete the task. Then it is time for someone like Ronald Reagan.

I've seens plenty of FReepers say that Trump is the best president in their lifetime. Poor millenials. Born after the Reagan years.

Good news. This means nearly 2/3 of New Hampshire G.O.P primary voters still have some working brain cells left.
