New research says cow's milk is better for you than oat milk or other plant-based vegan alternatives
Business Insider ^ | July 27, 2023 | Kate Hull

The plant-based milk industry is booming, and new milks seem to be cropping up everywhere — from the old standbys of almond milk and oat milk, to newfangled pistachio milk and cashew milk. The options are endless.

But few of these alternatives compare to cow's milk in terms of nutrition, according to data presented on July 24 at the American Society for Nutrition Conference in Boston. The data has not yet been published.

"I thought going into this that the manufacturers would have been looking at cow's milk and trying to match it with these products," Dr. Abigail Johnson, who researches nutrition at the University of Minnesota, told Insider.

Margarine is fake butter. Vegetable shortening is fake lard. I looked up a
comparison of lard among cooking fats. Lard is more nutritious than almost all
other cooking fats. Lard is loaded with monounsaturated fats like olive oil.
But for cooking, lard is superior for its ability to tolerate heat which would
destroy olive oil. And like olive oil, lard adds flavor to food.

Cows are mammals.

Who would have thunk?

Now, no more from the almond gallery.

I don’t mind the other milks like almond but I only rarely consume them. For the most part its regular milk for me.

Real lard doesn’t oxidize either. But don’t buy that hydrogenated stuff in the store. You would have to render fat like grandma to get the good stuff.

Im a 75 y.o. man and I grew UP on cow's milk.

I discovered farms in my area were giving fresh cow's milk away to anyone who wanted it and for the last 35 or more years, I and my family of 5 kids (an'a wife) drank it in cereal, coffee and just plain cold.

I haven't drank since 1981, but ice cold cow's milk (or store bought half n' half) were absolutely the best and most refreshing morning after drink that wet your mouth and didn't trigger a re-high/drunk.

My local farmer stopped the practice about a year ago and I damned well MISS it.

“Im a 75 y.o. man and I grew UP on cow’s milk.”

I’m a 75-year-old woman who hasn’t had cows’ milk for at least 70 years. Gross.

Did you ever bother to give the farmers anything back in return?

Pure milk or mRNA milk? Suddenly, it’s healthier now that cows are FDA approved to be vaccinated.

Next, some researcher will determine that natural intelligence is better than artificial intelligence. In most cases.

Do a search. A person could live on nothing but potatoes and COWS Milk. And course, water. So,i’m guessing COWS milk is kind of important.

“What goes in your coffee and tea?”

Nothing goes in my coffee. Black, fresh, strong.
Flavored coffee: pfffft!
Tea: Only drink unsweetened iced tea occasionally. Nothing goes in it.

In that case, no milk required.

But I hope you at least like cheese!

They just left off a letter.....goat’s milk. More nutritious (and less allergenic) than cow juice.

We drank our own goats milk for 25 years. Goats milk only has the A2 protein, like most mammals. Cows milk had a genetic mutation hundreds of years ago. Most of their milk is a mix of the A1 and A2 protein. We only buy A2 milk and have no digestive issues at all. Through better breeding their are many herds of only A2 cows.
