Another thread yesterday on FR discussed the notion of "public service" making wealth an entire class of politicians. While some may think the "deep state" is some kind of global cabal, my take is that they are mundane, money-grubbing and happy to align "across the aisle" with their seeming political opponents for the sake of the income, mostly derived from their "public" positions.
Appearing "post public service" as paid talking heads is all a part of the harvesting of income from that "public service."
A revisit to the lessons of Eichmann and the National Socialists' murderous era, or the Chinese Communists creating an entire class of ChiCom billionaires, or the Western and Eastern oligarchs who amass their wealth impart from public monies and back-room deals for public assets, is this.
The are not bigger-than-life cartoon characters. They are mundane, mendacious people, grubbing for money and privilege, followed by grubbing for more money and more privilege. So do I see it, and in the sense of Arendt's phrase, it is a "banality of evil."
Barr is among that set. Banal, at the minimum.

Barr’s father hired Epstein to work at his private school in Manhattan (Epstein around kids??). Barr did nothing about the FBI having and holding the Hunter laptop in 2019 while he was AG. Barr did nothing about the SARs and other clear evidence of the multimillion dollar sellout by the Biden crime family to foreign interests adverse to the US. Barr spent not one second investigating obvious vote fraud in the 2020 election, even though he was the nation’s chief law enforcement officer. I could go on . . .
To me it is incredible. People like Barr are out to destroy this country. If Trump is found guilty and jailed Civil War is inevitable. Yet the Barrs of this world are so mired in their swamp they proceed as though nothing very serious is occurring.
Conspiracy cases are hard to prove and take a long time...and against a former president no less...we are talking 2-3 years minimum...Trump should concentrate on election...as it is all political to revive up democratic base...I mean do you really believe Trump conspired with his lawyers and it is now they are finding out about it?...they where trying to connect him to riot which failed..as they wanted to bar him from running...this is a last ditch effort with a weak case...but DC jury will convict republican on anything...law is just opinion.
Civil war should have happened years ago. I don’t see it happening. Until people are completely broke and have no heat and/or electricity.
He doesn’t need to be blackmailed.
He’s corrupt to the core. He and his ilk know that if Pres Trump wins in 2024, then they’re grift is in serious, serious trouble. No more revolving doors to the private and public sector. All guys like Barr and the rest will have is CNN, Fox and MSNBC. By then, those people will be paying the networks for any opportunity to be seen in the public sphere.
Barr knows better. Shame.

He was recommended to Donald Trump to come out of retirement and serve a second term as Attorney General by George W. Bush.
At some point, after most of the participants are dead, some future historian will connect all the dots and show how Trump’s first term was sabotaged from its inception by the Deep State.
Yet a years long plot by CLinton, 0bama and the Intel community at large to undermine an elected President by creating a false narrative, promoting it and investigating him, was NOT a conspiracy to overturn an election?? Explain that in crayon...
