Nashville Democrat Justin Jones, a member of the so-called “Tennessee Three,” won back his state House seat Thursday after Republican lawmakers expelled him for his participation in a pro-gun control protest in the Capitol.
Jones, 27, defeated Republican candidate Laura Nelson.
Along with Jones, fellow Democrat Justin Pearson, 28, was also vying to reclaim his House seat in Memphis against independent candidate Jeff Johnston after also being expelled in April.
The young Black lawmakers were reinstated by local officials after being booted from the GOP-dominated Statehouse, but only on an interim basis.
They needed to clear a special election in order to fully take back their legislative positions.

Jones (D) beat his Republican rival 77.7% to 22.3%.
Memphis is a shi* hole.
Of course he does.
Every single city in America has been ruined by one or two demographics.
It’s on the verge of choosing between a milk toast Republican and a very progressive Democrat in the mayoral runoff. Is any major city not overcome with Democrats?
A lot of Nashville is a crime ridden dump, it's just not quite as bad as Memphis.
Expel him again.
Rats take over the cities. Even in red states. It’s only a matter of time. Memphis has been blue forever, but Nashville is a more recent conquest.
He wins in a DEMOCRAT SHithole. Big deal.
Be ready to boot them again if they break the rules.
Nashville sure has gone to crap. Try that in a small town.
It’s a Communist district near mine. He’s a Maoist/Pol Potist thug from Berkeley who engaged in street violence before going to the legislature last November. He tried to incite an actual insurrection on the floor of the House. He should’ve been referred for actual treason prosecution, along with the other 2 idiots.
There’s not a single Republican member in the state legislature from Nashville/Davidson County. Not in the House or Senate. Virtually all now are radical Communists, both White and Black. Even Memphis/Shelby County isn’t that bad.
The state legislature did divide Nashville into 3 parts to elect Republican Congressmen, but only because the suburbs outside the county dominate the majority of the votes, so at least we have that.
Conservatism has been so thoroughly defeated and discredited, it is mind-boggling.
