They are not selling fewer chickens. Tyson constantly buys smaller companies and merges them in with their older operations. Then they close down the old plants and build newer ones where the laws are best and they can higher more and and better people. Right now that is the south. Lot of chicken processing is done in small towns where its hard to get the employees. So they are going where the employees are. Tyson will try to sell every chicken they can without causing the price to go down.

“Tyson Foods Sells Majority Stake To Chinese Company”

Hey, I’m sure Tyson is looking to what is best for the American people.

Uh..I do not believe that is quite accurate.

In total, Tyson Foods operates 140 chicken facilities from hatchery to feed mills to kill and cook plants.

Tyson Foods also leads in the number of further-processing plants at 16.

So shutting down 4 of 16 plants for chicken doesn’t seem too good to me.

My regular grocery store has whole roasted chickens for $6.99, not a sale price.

Kwik Star c-stores generally have them for less.

And PS...they shut down two other plants in May and have been cutting

Tyson in May closed two other chicken plants with almost 1,700 employees.

In April, Tyson said it would eliminate about 10% of corporate jobs and 15% of senior leadership roles. The company also laid off corporate employees in Chicago and South Dakota who declined to relocate to Tyson’s headquarters in Arkansas.

And it’s going to make an attack on the fewer remaining processing plants have a much bigger impact on the food supply.

“More revenue and more volume do not always equate more profit.”

Yeah, every company desires less revenue and less volume. In fact, there is a fight going on with the companies to see just how much revenue and volume they can reduce to, hell, maybe just go out of business.

“If you’re selling less than your producing...”

I reread the article, the company said not a word of about selling less. They blamed it on inflation, but were still not clear. Something is going on, probably hiding a mistake somewhere.

One of the things inflation does is move buying habits from “name brands” to generic. Or just generally reduce sales.

They’ve also reduced some management offices. I think they’ve just been overspending.

***Noel, Missouri. ***

This used to be a great vacation town in the 1950s and 1960s. It began to go downhill around 1969 when a propane car on the KCS railway exploded one night. It was so loud it woke my dad up almost 23 miles away. I was in SE Asia but it did make the AFRTS news.
The new chicken processing plant was built, and moslem Somalis moved in to work at it with their usual demands. The town is a shell of it’s former self. Lots of abandoned motels all over the area.

Wonder if the workers will now get jobs at Southwest City MO, and what problems they will bring with them.

I live near Springdale Arkansas and I interface with many employees of all tiers there.

Tyson isn’t a corrupt southern company. That’s repetitive. They are a southern based company and by that virtue they are corrupt.

These plants employ many lower class people. Corydon, for instance, is going to suffer but luckily is close enough to Louisville that other work can be found.

The places in Missouri or taking a huge loss there. I wish them the best.

In the Tyson areas the Muslim and “backwards” immigrants don’t work. They aren’t affected outside of their theft and mugging victims now not having any money to take.

When it comes to their farms I also know quite a few chicken farmers here. We have Simmons chicken, Ozark mountain and George’s chicken. The farmers have a choice of contracts.

The farmers prefer the Tyson contracts for the money. That said, the truth of chicken farming is far departed from what we all think.

Chicken farms are secured. No one is allowed in or out. Even the farmers get permission to enter chicken houses, and it’s is stringently monitored. If any disease is detected in chickens (they are small so more of them occupy a space than other livestock) hundreds of thousands of chickens must be culled instead of the 100 or so cows that would have to be.

It’s a nightmare. The whole food chain is a nightmare.

Trucking is a nightmare too. And running retail. And policing. Everything is a stupid, unsustainable cluster %$#!

My SIL lives about 10 miles from Noel. It’s weird to go into a Missouri boondocks town and see all the businesses with signs in Arabic. She said the Somalis displaced the Mexicans who were there previously.

Well let’s see....Southwest City Mo has a big processing plant as does Simmons plant between Decatur and Gentry AR. Then there is Siloam Springs processing plants....

Lots of wrecks at the Simmons plant there since they put the new stop light in on Hwy 59.

The mosque in Noel burned a few years back. They were taking donations to rebuild it. Last time I was through there not long ago it still had not been rebuilt.

OH, OH, I KNOW! Transfer them to the Tyson’s hog operations in Guymon OK! They will fit right in!

These hog operations used to be in the NW Ark area but the stench was so bad they were “persuaded” to move to Guymon OK where there are millions of acres to spread the waste, and few people to complain “Where the wind comes sweeping down the plains...”
