CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police are looking for the people who reportedly stole from a luxury clothing store on Michigan Avenue.

Police said two suspects entered MCM, which is located in the 500-block of North Michigan, just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

One of them took merchandise as the other threatened the security guard with a handgun, CPD said.

They then ran away together.

No one was in custody Wednesday, and area detectives are investigating.

The Mac cosmetics store, also located in the 500-block of North Michigan on the Magnificent Mile, was also robbed Saturday morning.

“Amish Again???”

If I was a betting man, the odds would be heavily in my favor.

Chicago cops have said they have tailed armed robbers in their getaway cars, and have been told to stand down. The cops aren’t allowed to arrest armed robbers. The police are ‘investigating’, so what? The cops are told not to arrest them, and if they do arrest them the DA won’t prosecute them.

Why would they need to use a gun? They can waltz into any store they wish and take to their heart’s content without any interference from ‘law enforcement...’

I was amazed to read that Water Tower Place, the six story glass enclosed vertical mall, had shut completely due to organized theft. Too bad, Michigan Avenue in its prime was really an attraction; now the city is ruled by a Marxist.

So, the police are “looking for them”.

What are they going to do if they find them? Give them a lecture not to ever do it again?

Or, incovience the thieves a bit by taking them to the PD, taking their picture and telling them to show up for court in 6 months. To be then told by a judge “don’t do this again”

It used to be such a great street and safe!

Water Tower actually began going downhill long before the lockdowns and "SAINT FLOYD" riots though. Now it is mostly empty, bereft of any stores that are "pulls".

And the "SAINT FLOYD" theives are also "working" the suburban MALLS.

I noticed that the last time I stayed at the hotels next to Oakbrook Center which used to be quite upscale. There seemed to be a lot of individuals, who seemed seedy, just hanging out and not there for patronizing the stores.

My wife and I always visited the Water Tower Place, when visiting Chicago.

Michigan Avenue was a great draw, and we always walked it, and the surrounding area. Even with the occasional bums, they were always polite.

We don’t want to visit again and have our fond memories ruined.

Yeah, it was. My first visit to Chicago was back when Daley was still mayor, summer of 1972. As a student government officer, I was invited to represent our school at a national student council convention.

It was a cool city with first class museums including a captured German submarine from World War II. We even had a closing night dinner in a ritzy place with a Playboy Club on the top two floors. Don't remember the name of it, but some of the guys snuck away long enough to get their photos taken with the bunnies.

We haven't been back for quite some time now ( long before the horrors took hold ), so I have my memories too.

When we moved to Chicago ( early '70s ), Michigan Ave. was quite different; no Water Tower Place, only two major department stores, lots of boutiques, small shops and exclusive stores. It was quite nice, but not a patch on Manhattan's Fifth Ave.!

Then things suddenly changed and it really did become 'THE MIRACLE MILE"; though still a far cry from Fifth Ave. in its GOLDEN period.

It was always a VERY safe and elite area; except for one summer Saturday, when the "garbage" invaded North Beach. But at least they weren't looting and shooting, and worse! And they were eventually made to leave when they began to get rowdy.

I wish that I had a time machine..........*sigh*; but we still have our memories.
