It’s official, ladies and gentlemen! Bud Light is no longer No. 1!
And your new champion: Modelo Especial. They have slid into the first place spot as America’s top-selling beer over Bud Light, who has been in turmoil ever since the Dylan Mulvaney fiasco.
Over the course of 2023, sales of Modelo at grocery and beer stores have surpassed Bud Light‘s, according to new NIQ data via CNN. It’s reportedly the first time in history that Modelo has beaten Bud Light on a year-to-date basis. Modelo got the No. 1 ranking with 8.34% share of dollars spent on beer through August 12 compared to Bud Light’s 8.28%.
The switching of positions is truly historical, since Bud Light has been the United States’ best-selling beer for a strong portion of the last two decades, per CNN.

Take your victory lap, folks! We won!
And this is perfect timing too, with the first weekend of college football coming up. So to celebrate both college football coming back and Modelo Especial taking over Bud Light’s top spot, I’m getting a personal six-pack of the Mexican goodness Saturday to go along with the couple of games that we have — Navy at Notre Dame and San Jose State at USC.
Hmm … let’s make that two six-packs. One per game. Sounds like a fantastic weekend to me.
Sorry, Bud Light. You had it coming. And not just because of the Dylan Mulvaney nonsense, but because Modelo is straight up cooler. Their marketing is on point. Who doesn’t want to drink a beer that embraces strength and hard work?
Modelo for the dub, and by far at this point.
Bring back Michelob Dry. Problem solved.
And converting to a “queer” is no longer being tolerated by honest Americans!
So illegal alien beer has taken over as most-selling from a beer that nobody says they like drinking it because it tastes so wonderful. Looks like illegals drink as a special interest group, sort of like blacks voting democrat.
"Michelob Dry"
No, it's only a few laps into the race. There's still a lot of time for them to come back if we don't keep them down.
Are people just switching to other beers owned by the same conglomerate? Then it’s no victory at all.
The original Michelob Light is still available. Sort of hard to find, and expensive though.
I was at a breakfast political event Saturday AM. About 75-80 people there. Held at a big bar and grill that opened early for the event.
On the back wall of the stage area there were tons of cases of beer being stored.
Huge double stack of Miller Lite.
Huge double stack of Coor’s Light.
Small double stack of Mich Ultra.
=ZERO= Bud Lite. Not even carrying it any more.
It’s still A-B.........................
I don’t think they seel it on Oahu.. haven’t been able to find it yet. It was the only beer that didn’t give me a headache :p
Modelo isn’t beer. It’s cervesa! (Cue The Good, the Bad and the Ugly whistle).
us modelo sales are not inbev
Isn’t Morgana our official Bud Light reporter?
Switching to another Transheiser Busch product or to Coors Light is not really much of a win. Coors supports plenty of gay stuff, too.
Are people just switching to other beers owned by the same conglomerate? Then it’s no victory at all.
.......................................
Just like elections and the uniparty.
Modelo is owned by Anheiser Busch, so nothing to celebrate here, other that Butt Wipe has fallen from top selling beer
“It’s still A-B.....”
No.
Modelo and Corona are distributed in the US by Constellation Brands. When AB bought the Modelo brand FedGov didn’t let them buy the distribution rights for the US. If you buy it in the US AB makes not one cent from it.
Modelo and Corona are still Mexican brands.

Modelo and Corona aren’t distributed by AB in the US. FedGov stepped in during the sale and wouldn’t let AB distribute Modelo or Corona in the US. Both are still Mexican brands imported to the US by Constellation Brands.
