MSNBC anchor Joy Reid said Thursday on her network’s special coverage of Georgia’s booking of Donald Trump that the former president is a “vile, racist, anti-democracy buffoon.”
Reid said, “Who else has been mentioned, what, a few dozen times in hip-hop songs that people used to portray as, that they used to say is the stand-in for wealth and ostentatious wealth? Donald Trump. Donald Trump, before he was soon to be criminal defendant Donald Trump, was a hip-hop figure. He was somebody who people I respect, like Nas, were talking about, Donald Trump. He was a stand-in for the idea of wealth, of having, of gold, of bling.”

To laugh at this mugshot is to misunderstand it. Georgia has just crystallized Trump’s campaign message with a copyright-free image that will win him the nomination.
Fani Willis, Georgia’s district attorney, surely felt quite self-satisfied these past two weeks. We all saw her smug press conference announcing Trump’s indictment.
But the mugshot — wholly unnecessary, avoided in Trump’s three other indictments, meant to humiliate and degrade — has opened up a brand new revenue stream and re-energized Trump’s already fanatical base.
As has Fulton County’s explanation?

A photo image sequence of Trump with business leaders, his employees and with various boxing contenders and celebrities and stars had over 100 pictures. I stopped after probably 80 and had seen around 40% black people with their arms around his shoulder and smiling or laughing with him at some event.

Bobby Bare sang a country song about fifty years back, called “The Winner.” It was about a young punk who challenges this old veteran brawler to a bar fight. The old man says, “I’m gonna sit right here and sip this beer all night. Okay, I quit..I lose...You’re the winner.” And everybody laughs the youngster out of the bar.
Watching this sputtering angry fool throw the same stupid rants around reminds me of that song. You won, Joy. You got your mugshot, you foul beast. And now we can all laugh at this lunatic and her deranged network.

Hey MSNBC, what the heck do you call this show, “Name calling with Joy Reid”? How does this even come close to resembling a news broadcast? An entire crew of Kindergartners could do a more professional broadcast.
