That’s the central point concerning EVs. This isn’t a one size fits all country.
If EVs had been left up to market forces (instead of being driven by environmental extremism and government subsidizes and mandates—like they’re the bosses of what we should buy) EVs would have found their proper niche in the marketplace.
We all have different needs and requirements and circumstances and resources and on and on.
Freedom of choice. We used to believe in that in America.

It’s ironic because today’s cars suffer that exact problem. My son is terrible at maintaining his car and is doing a LOT of catch-up work on maintenance now. It is hugely expensive to do it all at once after ignoring it for years. The complexity of cars, the huge number of control systems, the electronics, the labor cost of $200/hour. What a mess.
Cars prior to 1980 (or so) were easy to work on and everything was accessible. Not any more.

Yep! And the work was constant! Now it is common to go 100k+ with no repairs
I punt 100k hard miles on a Mustang with only normal maintenance.
So do they blow up like the cars after being exposed to salt water?
So if 20% of EV owners go back to ICE vehicles, that means 80% keep their EVs. It sounds to me like a lot more stay EV than go back.
A hybrid a different animal.
I have a Prius hybrid with 359,000 miles on the clock...needed a second re-built engine at 160,000 miles.
Original battery ,,,car in daily use...2 drivers
Now needs set of shock absorbers.
Occasional use is not good for EV batteries.

Do you think doing that was the economical way to go? Our son’s 2016 Ford Escape 1.6L EcoBoost engine has a design flaw that lets coolant into the combustion chambers and causes all sorts of havoc. We looked at a rebuilt engine, but putting a remanufactured engine into an old car with 230k on the clock just seemed like a poor investment.
All these electric appliances, lawnmowers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, are nice, but unless you have solar panels at your house and you are completely off the grid, your utility is probably polluting for you.
It is going to be years before “renewable” technology outpaces burning gasoline.
Total elimination of The Department of Transportation is what I want.

It will NEVER do that. The specific energy density is way too low to harvest economically, without despoiling a million square miles of land, killing agriculture (urea fertilizer, land use, and liquid hydrocarbon fuels), finding the unobtainable utility-scale energy storage, and killing untold numbers of birds, insects, and ocean life.
It is such a loser proposition I can’t believe people believe in it. But the innumeracy of the people is also beyond belief. They are like Dorothy clicking the ruby slippers and “believe.”
Child labor in mines is probably not one of the reasons.

No one hates planet earth more than an electric vehicle owner.
Actually, they are good except the problem of charging. I can charge from 10-80% in 18 minutes at a fast charger. Whereas Tesla has chargers all over the place for other EVs, not so much. It is really frustrating to pull into a charging station when you are on the road only to find half the chargers are out of order and the others are in use. At home it is great charging overnight. My worry is where the electricity is going to come from in the near future.
Toyota is developing a solid-state battery that could achieve an impressive 745 miles on a single charge, without any driving restrictions.
Solid-state batteries have higher energy density and can be smaller and lighter than other types of batteries, potentially halving the size of EV batteries.
Supposed to be ready by 2025.
