Who the hell would want to be a cop these days when every idiot in the United States is a “bad guy”. The dumbass move of opening the borders caused the cops we had left to be overrun by azhos!
Law enforcement academy requirements sunk small town police. Local cops used to be local guys. Now they are ‘professionals’ with no particular loyalty to the community, and will move on to the next higher paying job.
Small communities simply can’t afford an all-pro police department. Paying county sheriffs for protection is a very reasonable solution.
In democrat held territory ?
It then falls on the county and state for service.
How much longer can the town actually be viable as a town?
Fear not Marxist leaders say you will enjoy the camps.
There will still be federal police of course.
Seems many towns will start hiring illegals as cops. You voted in Marxist Dems, now live with them.
This is an example of why the Founding Fathers decided that firearm ownership MUST be a Right, not just a favor from a bunch of thieving, pedophile politicians.
So maybe the void will (and should) be replaced by armed citizen patrols and militia. Could turn out to be a good thing (try that in a small town, indeed).
While watching the 1883 TV series, I was amused at how quickly (and how finally/permanently) law-breakers were dealt with. Perhaps it’s time to revisit our nation’s past re: that. The pendulum needs to swing way back the other way... and I think it will.
We simply didn’t need them, and the idea of pissing away taxpayer money on useless employees just didn’t make any sense.
Sometime back in the early nought’s, there was a big to-do about some town, I think it was in Wyoming, that had to get rid of their police department. Every story about it was accompanied by dire predictions and “poor helpless townspeople”.
Then it actually happened, and the articles disappeared.
Roughly one year later, someone on a forum I was on mentioned that they live in that area. I asked for his view of what happened after the local police disbanded. According to him, there was a brief period where crooks thought they could get away with everything.
It only took about a week for them to realize, police hadn’t been protecting their victims from the crooks. They had been protecting the crooks from their victims!!!
It turns out, having the police to rely on actually makes law-abiding citizens LESS inclined to use deadly force! Now that the police were gone, every crime became punishable by death.
According to this person, by the end of the third week, any criminally-inclined person who survived was either moving out, or was following the law.
I admit, this is my memory of a conversation that took place more than 10 years ago, and I have no proof the person who told me this actually lived where he said he did. Therefore, I wouldn’t exactly call this reliable testimony. But, it will be very interesting to see if the results are the same in other towns!
Meanwhile in Canada, the federal government has decided to remove the RCMP from civic policing within the next decade, leaving a huge hole in policing for close to 3/4 of the towns and cities in the country.
The only purpose for many small towns to have police is revenue generation.
I really wouldn’t give a damn if the police in my town were dissolved.
The Communist left is letting the criminals do their work for them.
We have too many cops in rural America where folks can take care of law and order without much help.
The inner cities are the issue.
have they heard the song try that in a small town.
I saw this myself in Bethel, North Carolina. Most of the officers on the force there were reservists. My guess is that a part time job was no longer worth putting up with the risk of being arrested themselves for non-crime of defending themselves from the likes of Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin or George Floyd.
