This guy is making Little Lori look like Rhodes Scholar.

The city running grocery stores? Well, they’d be...

Never open before 8AM or after 4PM
Closed every weekend and every holiday they can come up with
Heavily unionized
Prices double if not triple the actual value of the groceries
Rude workers who only care about their next union break
No higher authority to complain to
Money losing operations from day one
Damaged or expired inventory

Year, Mister “Mayor”, this is a GREAT idea.

Yay! Government owned grocery stores. Now we just have to wait for those bread lines. We can wait for our own version of big fat soviet babushkas waiting to get their food ration.

After that they can ban private grocery stores because those are raycisss. Only those citizens with approved thinking and good social credit scores will be allowed to get groceries. Everyone else can starve.

Nicaragua, Cuba, Poland, Albania, East Germany, Soviets have a lot of failed examples you could study. Im fact, head over to North Korea for a few months or please, longer to gain insights into the best practices and productivity of modern Utopia-Mart businesses.

(Bet their theft and vandalism is well controlled unlike in your third world paradise.)

State-owned, state-run.

No free enterprise, no Capitalism.

Let’s go, Brandon.

The commies need to feed their families and the Mayor of Chicago must have a lot of families he needs to feed.

Again, if any Freepers still live in a ghetto city which has been given over to the Marxists, get. out.

Last warning. I don't care if you live in a $3M brownstone just south of Evanston, get. out. You will never receive justice if you have anything even remotely close to "Bonfire of the Vanities" happen to you.

Illinois is the saddest story in the history of the United States of America. One city has held the entire state hostage beginning 70 years ago, and exponentially accelerating 23 years ago; and no Bruce Rauner does not count.

The intentionality of it is unmistakable, particularly when watching the Chinese agri-footprint metastasize downstate in the same timeframe, as Christian conscientious farmers fled for bordering states that are not anchored by, and will never be anchored by, a cancerous Chiraq.

Chicago is split by 3 main racial groups. Whites at the largest at about 36%, Hispanics a bit less and blacks at 28%. I live in the burbs but for work I travel throughout the whole city. The only neighborhoods that are food deserts are the ones that are predominately black. Anyone inside the city with a different opinion?

The hispanic neighborhoods are full of poor ppl, they have poor schools and gangs. Yet they have supermercados. I think Brandon should do a feasibility study why one demographic has grocery stores in walking distance and the other has to take mass transit to buy food.

“public grocery dispensaries”

hmmmm ... If we have public grocery dispensaries ... we can eliminate all the snap and food stamp cards ..right?

Simply have an account at your local dispensary ... get your stuff and debit your account. No need for cards and such that can be swapped for cash. Make sure only allowed food is purchased...

Some where ... some how ... something like this could be better then then system in place now .... so .... can't have that.
Better to just throw more free $#!T out the door.
The “tax payer” (racist dog whistle) can foot the bill.

Sounds like the way every government office in every blue city / blue state is already run.

Can’t they find even one token white person who knows how to issue automobile tags?

I remember a Soviet man being interviewed and he was discussing the large supermarket chains and our warehouses and truckers.

“Your government’s distribution centers are more efficient than ours.”

Soon it will be a Marxist government food supply system. After 2024 get up early to stand in line for your rations for the rutabagas and potatoes before they run out.

Let’s go Brandon to the “company” store.

Another example of a failed affirmative action candidate.

I think Brandon should do a feasibility study why one demographic has grocery stores in walking distance and the other has to take mass transit to buy food.

In order to do so it would require a certain amount of brains, something Brandon is in desperate need of.

The second time I’ve been able to reference this Biden quote today:

Aug 9, 2019 — Joe Biden told a group of mostly Asian and Hispanic voters Wednesday that “poor kids are just as bright” as white children.

BTW, the other part of this story is, there is zero chance of this actually happening.

These race-pimping 'activists' do. not. want. this particular problem solved, as it is one of their hottest, most-reliable issues when they go begging for donations in the MSM -- not to fixing the food desert, of course, but filling their boogum coffers.

Indeed it’s amazing how many people have no idea how it was.

Yes it is. I grew up during that era and remember the cold war for sure. When faced with the reality of their ideology even the leaders of the USSR couldn't deny how messed their system was.

Boris Yeltsin in his autobiography regarding his visit to Randall's grocery store in Clear Lake, TX (Houston) Sept. 16, 1989.
“When I saw those shelves crammed with hundreds, thousands of cans, cartons and goods of every possible sort, for the first time I felt quite frankly sick with despair for the Soviet people,” Yeltsin later wrote in his autobiography, “Against the Grain.” “That such a potentially super-rich country as ours has been brought to a state of such poverty! It is terrible to think of it.”
Yeltsin noted, “Even the Politburo doesn’t have this choice. Not even Mr. Gorbachev”

The only way this would work is if you ordered on line and drove to a secure area to pick the stuff up. Walmart here does it.

Of course, they will scam the system with SNAP cards. Well, duh...there are no millionaires in the neighborhood.
