Former president Donald Trump, the front-runner in the GOP presidential primary, said a state abortion law signed by his top challenger, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), which bans the procedure after six weeks, is “terrible.”
In April, DeSantis signed the controversial law, which will go into effect if the Florida Supreme Court upholds the state’s 15-week ban on abortion that he signed into law last spring. At a hearing this month, the Florida justices appeared open to upholding the limiting ban.
Trump, in an interview that aired Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” criticized DeSantis for being “willing to sign a five-week and six-week ban.”
“I think what he did is a terrible thing and a terrible mistake,” Trump said.
DeSantis’s six-week ban — which includes exceptions for rape, incest, medical emergencies and “fatal fetal abnormalities” — would outlaw the procedure in Florida before many people know they’re pregnant.
The new host of “Meet the Press,” Kristen Welker, asked Trump if he’d sign federal legislation that would ban abortion at 15 weeks, a limit that antiabortion groups and some lawmakers have rallied behind.
Trump said no, and said he’d seek to negotiate with Democrats on the issue.
Trump declined to say what time frame he thinks is appropriate for an abortion ban and instead insisted that he would “sit down with both sides and I’d negotiate something, and we’ll end up with peace on that issue for the first time in 52 years.”
“Both sides are going to like me,” he added. “I’m going to come together with all groups, and we’re going to have something that’s acceptable.” ***

Jesus said it well when he said if someone harms a Child it would be better to be drowned and dead...I would say abortion is the greatest offense anyone can do to a baby. What is wrong with Trump saying he can “ negotiate” with Democrats nonsense.. I am trusting him less and less and thinking he doesn’t need to win in 2024..
Ectopic pregnancies usually occur in the fallopian tubes and are discovered early in pregnancy. Usually around 8 weeks. Surgery to remove such a pregnancy has never been considered an abortion. It does not even meet the medical definition for such. Those who claim abortion bans mean a woman must wait until the tube bursts before seeking treatment are scaremongering.
In medical terminology, a miscarriage is referred to as a spontaneous abortion.
Really you need to stop. I don’t need to prove or justify anything to you to have an opinion and belief on any subject. This is a leftist tactic employed to shut people up under tue false pretense they aren’t somehow qualified to have and express a view on a given subject. I am not going to put up with it from you.

The problem with that thinking is.... without a strong enough candidate, the Democrats will manage to retain the power they seized with the last stolen election. In order for us to have a chance of saving this nation we need Trump to win. If not Trump, perhaps DeSantis. But none of the other candidates have a chance in hell of beating the rats and we’ll be screwed again. And this country won’t last through another term of Marxist control. Hell, we may not even last until Nov. 2024. It’s looking that “iffy”.
That is not the same thing as an induced abortion during the course of a normal pregnancy
I’m so sorry they had to go through that. It would either be called an abortion or a termination of a pregnancy. Either way, it was a necessary procedure to save the life of the mother so there should have been no problem to get taken care of properly.
When I worked in a pathologist’s billing office, I assisted in processing the insurance claims for all sorts of diagnoses, including abortions. It was sad to see, knowing that some were wanted children and that some weren’t, and that none of the procedures are humane to a live baby.
And to lessen the confusion, ectopic pregnancies (always brought up) ARE NOT ABORTIONS, and the medical community has never regarded them as abortions. Consider that ectopic pregnancy laparoscopy/laparotomy procedure have always been lega while abortions have not.

It's called incrementalism. We finally get a conservative that uses the left's more successful tactics to implement a seemingly unpopular policy agenda, only to have it used to politically bludgeon same conservative. He (and the FL legislature) got fifteen weeks, now he got six. Next, maybe zero.
Effing shameful for a supposed conservative leader to make political hay off a conservative state's victory, especially when he likes to remark how DeSantis doesn't stand a chance. I know Trump will never relent on an opponent, that's fine. However, I for one will not forget his attacks on conservative victories from leftist angles. That's why he is polarizing. He's gonna drain the swamp, and also appease to their denizens at the same time.
