With nine days left for the House to avoid a government shutdown, lawmakers remain engulfed in spending fights and appear no closer to a resolution.
At issue: a government shutdown that could disrupt the lives of Americans and affect national operations. Adding to the complications: new pressure on the GOP from the party's presidential front-runner, Donald Trump, who says he supports a shutdown.

Looking at the pay scale for federal workers, they are overpaid with more holidays than ordinary Americans. Government shutdowns save tax payers money. Restore certain essential services, i.e., pay Social Security and shut down everything else. Restrict funds for the US Postal Service until absentee ballot laws are changed. That must be a priority, but the GOP likes to be losers, otherwise they would use the power of the purse to end the mail in voter fraud. Republicans who cave in need to be primaried.

Shut it down for a few weeks then give the Dems what they wanted in the first place.
Shouldn’t agree to sit down with them unless the border is sealed shut.
Will the State Department still be able to support world kleptarchy? Will the FBI informants continue to get paid? Will the illegals still get their free cell phones? What will happen to people awaiting government subsidized sex change surgery? Can the country survive?
Will the DOJ, IRS and FBI be fully funded?

Nonsense, I've lived through 4 or 5 shutdowns and was a fed employee through at least 3 of them.
Shutdowns don't disrupt the lives of anyone unless you are referring to the 10s of thousands of gov workers who get a paid leave vacation.
I was considered an essential employee so I had to work through all the shutdowns.
My question is if you are a non-essential employee why does the government employ you?

Yea, Obama was the first to do that. He wanted to ensure maximum pain on the American people. I expect them to do even more this time since Obama is still running things.

Federal employees get free time off with back pay when it’s done. Military (the bureaucrats in uniform in DC)) still go to work and get paid. And the tens of thousands of defense contractors and other Beltway Bandits still go to work and get paid.
Government shutdown means nothing. It’s just a clown show to fool the rest of the country into believing their party is taking a stand. It’s just another manifestation of Washington lies.
