Imagine the people who are going to freeze because they cannot afford a 8000 dollar furnace replacement as opposed to a 3000 dollar replacement.

I do not want to live in this fake bubble they are creating. Millions of people are going to die, go insane, or worse.
And in certain homes that can be almost impossible. We have a two-story home and installed a 95% unit ten years ago. It was not easy. We couldn’t use the flue that the old unit used and our only exhaust point was at the absolute max for the unit. It works, but has major issues in the wintertime.
WE NEED TO PUT THESE DIRT BAGS IN THE FURNACE
Very high efficiency furnaces are very prone breakdown. They are finicky as hell. Avoid them if at all possible. This new standard is just like the cars. enact impossible standards to effectively kill by regulation

Yes. When we lose power I can cook, take a hot shower, I have firewood to cook meat, old school clotheslines to dry clothes, battery powered radios and 3 generators to keep my fridges and my window unit working. A lot of my yankee transplant neighbors have no clue how to handle 99F and 90% humidity.
I made a crude A/C unit with a fan and a bowl of ice. Got the room down to 70F. One night we had 6 adults and 3 dogs all sleeping in the one room that had some AC.
