Having closed their last nuclear plants early this year, they have no choice for reliable base power. Lignite btw is the most polluting of all the fossil fuels. Halfway between coal and peat. But it’s what they have, along with wood.

Germany’s energy problem began long before Biden. It was Merkel who set them up for a continuing crisis, along with her green allies.
