Societal order is beginning to collapse in the besieged Gaza Strip after thousands of desperate people raided UN warehouses in search of food, amid continuing bombardment by Israeli airstrikes and a widening ground offensive as the war enters its fourth week.
Thomas White, the head of the UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), said on Sunday that wheat, flour and hygiene supplies had been taken the day before from several UN-run centres across the blockaded 41km by 12km strip, home to more than 2 million trapped people.
“This is a worrying sign that civil order is starting to break down after three weeks of war and a tight siege,” White said. “The needs of the communities are immense, if only for basic survival, while the aid we receive is meagre and inconsistent.”
Basic services in Gaza have crumbled after three weeks of a near-total blockade imposed by Israel, leaving people exposed to serious outbreaks of disease as streets overflow with sewage, and food, water and medicine run out. The UN considers the siege a war crime. Israel has also sharply escalated an already devastating aerial campaign on the coastal exclave on Friday night that has killed more than 8,000 people, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
Under the cover of strikes and artillery, Israeli ground troops have begun moving into the north of the strip in Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun in what the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, described as the “second stage” of the war triggered by Hamas. The Palestinian militant group killed 1,400 people across southern Israel and kidnapped 230 hostages during its unprecedented rampage on 7 October.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said that over the past 24 hours they had hit 450 targets belonging to Hamas, which gained control of Gaza in 2007 including command

You can’t civilize the sand-amish.
Or they may just be desperate and the rage is directed outward...we just don’t know. Honestly I think what you proposed is the least likely scenario.
It’s about time…
Articles like this are attempts to draw sympathy for the enemy. Kind of hard to so do for such collective evil.
When you have a neighbor that is actively seeking your destruction, fueled by a religious imperative to do so.... And efforts for peace fail.... And they continue for decades to conduct barbaric unprovoked murder and other atrocities.... it’s time to say enough.
The Palestinians voted for this, let them go pound sand.
Except for the fact that Egypt doesn’t want them. Nor does Jordan, not does any other Arab country in the region. What does THAT tell you?
Any 'order' was over on the 7th!
Blocked from leaving and no other country would take them as refugee...even in the face of all these protests of support?
Interesting to observe.
They’re beginning to act like they’re in San Francisco!
Oh noooosers!! Did any of their little Palestinian baby's heads fall off??
Power was shutoff from Israel, so nothing is working. No power, no water, no sewage processing...
And yet they won’t give up the Hamas terrorists. And the world will blame Israel.
Can we assume the UN was saving ‘the goods’ for Hamas?
While Hamas was getting Western aid so they could run the Health Service, apparently.
The Gaza residents are behaving in a manner that I believe the people in the blue cities will if there is any disruption of services or national emergency. I’d bet on it.
This is something yet to come, what most of our crooked politicians keep forgetting otherwise they would behave much differently. But as always, time will tell.
They likely know that Egypt, unlike FJB's America, will defend it's borders .... likely ferociously -- and effectively -- so.
These people live on prime real estate on the Mediterranean Sea. They could have turned the Gaza Strip into a paradise. Instead, Hamas and Fatah before them turned it into a sh#thole. A literal sh#t hole.
Cry me a river.
There’s another post saying the UN has lost touch with their aid workers and are in fear for their lives? https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4192919/posts
My second most likely scenario is that the UN is putting int’l pressure on Israel to ease up on their operation.
