Societal order is beginning to collapse in the besieged Gaza Strip after thousands of desperate people raided UN warehouses in search of food, amid continuing bombardment by Israeli airstrikes and a widening ground offensive as the war enters its fourth week.
Thomas White, the head of the UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), said on Sunday that wheat, flour and hygiene supplies had been taken the day before from several UN-run centres across the blockaded 41km by 12km strip, home to more than 2 million trapped people.
“This is a worrying sign that civil order is starting to break down after three weeks of war and a tight siege,” White said. “The needs of the communities are immense, if only for basic survival, while the aid we receive is meagre and inconsistent.”
Basic services in Gaza have crumbled after three weeks of a near-total blockade imposed by Israel, leaving people exposed to serious outbreaks of disease as streets overflow with sewage, and food, water and medicine run out. The UN considers the siege a war crime. Israel has also sharply escalated an already devastating aerial campaign on the coastal exclave on Friday night that has killed more than 8,000 people, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
Under the cover of strikes and artillery, Israeli ground troops have begun moving into the north of the strip in Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun in what the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, described as the “second stage” of the war triggered by Hamas. The Palestinian militant group killed 1,400 people across southern Israel and kidnapped 230 hostages during its unprecedented rampage on 7 October.
The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said that over the past 24 hours they had hit 450 targets belonging to Hamas, which gained control of Gaza in 2007 including command

The press has not waivered from claiming there are 2 million people trapped in Gaza..
However other less publicized reports indicated at least 700,000 left the combat zone after the IDF warning, and yesterday reported Hamas was shooting at other civilians trying to flee.
None of the figures we are being fed….including casualties….has had any credibility beyond being claimed by “ Palestinian authorities”
See my post above
Civilians? There are only old jihadis, jihadist in training, and fighting jihadists - all longing for the death they desire. There are no civilians, and the raid was done with approval of hamas or they would have been shot by hamas.
The Gullible Guardian.
They believe everything they hear as long as it makes the Jews look bad.
Propaganda opportunities ....
George Washington lived without electric power.
Gaza probably has many wells. My neighborhood here in Florida relied on wells until about 20 years ago.
People can go about two weeks without food. Food can be grown in Gaza.
Let me further translate
Palestinian militants ( about any male over 10) are raiding UN storehouses for supplies which will first support the male fighters, then end up on the black market……..for desperate women, children and elderly
all of those inside gaza scenes are filmed by hamas - outside media is not allowed in. Its all staged propaganda.
People in Blues cites do not worship and long for death as Palestinians do.
“ Agreed, however their own terrorists blocked them from leaving.”

1. They voted to put Hamas in charge.
2. They almost universally cheered what was done on October 7. Some of them even participated.
3. Israel has warned them to leave the north, and go to the south, where there has been a substantial amount of aid delivered. There have been opportunities for many of them to leave, and they have just not taken it.
I truly do feel sorry for the very young people who do not know any better, and haven’t committed any crimes of any kind. I do not feel quite so sorry for those who cheer every Night stealing death, no matter how gruesome, and who continue to support Hamas. They have made their choice, now they must live with the consequences of that choice. Isn’t that what we teach children? FAFO.
Yes, good points Jackson - there's many ugly reasons some of the wealthiest zip codes in the country are clustered around Washington DC...
Nah, they set themselves up as civilian casualties for hamas propaganda.
The UN doesn’t belong in our country - it’s a third world hellhole organization. And that’s where they should be located.
Muhuhuhuhahahaaa
The UN has never won a skirmish, or a war.
Yes, and thanks for the link.
Egypt will not accept them. They know it. They will kill them.
And Jordan feels the same way.
Terrorists are Terrorists.
What a shame that these folks have had all their humanitarian aid stolen to make bombs and feed terrorists. That infrastructure has been uprooted and neglected in the name of Allah.
All their utilities, water, energy etc all originate from the people they want to kill...... then complain.
False profit. False tears.
“Civil order”? in a muzzy country?
(The UN doesn’t belong in our country)
“It is the sacred principles enshrined in the United Nations charter to which the American people will henceforth pledge their allegiance.”
(George H. W. Bush, addressing the General Assembly of the U.N. February 1, 1992)
I didn’t find the original speech right off but this quote
