What a stupid article.

Clearly, gas causes warming. If Earth didn’t have an atmosphere, it’d be as cold as the Moon.

“Clearly, gas causes warming”

You simply do not understand how the Earth warms and cools.

Agreed.

But whatever causes warming and cooling, the bottom line is that our Modern Warm Period is no different from the prior warming periods in the past few thousand years. We can all debate over what causes these periods. Yet the bottom line is the Modern Warm Period is nothing to freak out over. In fact, if you look at how the warming and cooling affected people's lives, the warm periods are good times to be alive.

You seem to be purposely distorting the meaning of the article. The point is blaming CO2 for a warming which doesn’t even exist is a willful lie.

“What a stupid article.”

I second that.

There is a truth in the article. But the problem is looking at one small part of a large complex system.

We as humans like to get things down to one issue. Then we think we understand it and can control it.

But, if you admit it is a large complex system, it leads to answers such as God. And we can’t have that.

The atmosphere acts as a filter for incoming energy and an insulator for escaping energy. The gases don’t cause anything because they are passive.

Nothing is cold that faces unfiltered sunlight in a vacuum and stays warm much longer when it only sheds heat via radiation (see any Thermos bottle for proof of the latter).

Thank you for posting Yo-Yo.

"Clearly, gas causes warming. If Earth didn’t have an atmosphere, it’d be as cold as the Moon."

Please explain why greenhouse gasses like methane and CO2 fail to hold the heat down in the shadow of a midday solar eclipse of an otherwise warm sunny day.

Also, is it any surprise that nighttime temperatures typically keep dropping in many places until shortly after sunrise?

“warming” is a silly word to use.

The context they are using is green house effect. Water vapor, for example, has a strong green house effect. It’s the reason why arid deserts get so cold at night even though they were so hot during the day.

CO2 has a negligible greenhouse effect and there isn’t enough of it to make a difference even if it was stronger.

“Clearly, gas causes warming.”

In the exact same way insulation heats your home for free, right?

“What a stupid article.”

Yep. Truly moronic! And ignorant.

People like him embarrass our side.

Gases in the atmosphere act as a blanket not as a heat storage (although like a blanket they do hold a bit of heat for a short time).

The warmists claim for CO2 is that it is a somewhat better blanket than the other gases, that it offers a bit more resistance to heat radiating from the earth’s surface to outer space.

And that may be true to some extent, but where they go completely off the rail is claiming that the 3% of CO2 that man dumps in the atmosphere each year (the other 97% coming from “mother nature”) is going to lead to a catastrophic, life ending Armageddon.

That’s the part that is preposterous!

Rising CO2, according to the ice core data, is a lagging indicator. IOW... temp goes up, and then CO2 goes up.

Water vapor on the other hand... That is the stuff that REALLY keeps us warm...

Define the “perfect” temperature range for the planet and then define the “perfect” humidity range for the planet.

There's not one "climate scientist" in the world who can answer those questions.

Then explain past periods of glaciation and subsequent warming without any input from humans.
