Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) says his state’s vote Tuesday to enshrine abortion rights “was a gut punch” for anti-abortion officials such as himself.

In a lengthy post online, Vance, who campaigned against the effort to ensure abortion access, attempted to parse out why the measure won with support from nearly 57 percent of voters.

The GOP should drop the abortion stance or get used to losing.

Denying fraud won’t help.

Not to worry. Ronna and friends are palling it up with Lester Holt for a debate about things that the base isn’t focused on.

The GOPe says we need to be more flexible with our anti-abortion beliefs and “comprise” more with the Democrats.

And many Repubs here at FR agree.

But look. If you are wrong in your viewpoints on abortion, then you will be just as wrong on the border, the Ukraine War, the economy, and etc.

Abortion is the foundation in which conservatives fight from.

And if/when The Stupid Party gets on board with that, then we will start to win state elections as well as National.

why the measure won with support from nearly 57 percent of voters.

Because they agree with Margaret Sanger

Huh? That’s exactly what they have been doing for DECADES.

They need to adopt a strong anti-abortion stance and then get used to WINNING.

Trump’s 3 SCOTUS picks which was a win for conservatives is being criticized by Democrats and Republicans alike. Why do Repukes want to lose like that?

The abortion topic is the one topic Republicans lose on and it’s the one topic Democrats are winning on - and it seemingly outweighs even the economy.

Yea, but President Trump will counterattack, and not just sit there like the Gop does.

Hey, Ohio voted to amend their Constitution to enshrine marriage as the enduring form it had always been. Let’s hope this newest tragedy goes by the same demise.

Nope. If the GOP continues to press abortion as a national issue, they will get wiped out.
I think it’s likely that they’ve already alienated too many women to salvage 2024.

I’m pro-Life but this ballot issue was very restrictive. Even if your child is raped and is pregnant from that violation, she cannot have an abortion in Ohio under current law. To me, there’s tough balance point between gov’t intervention in something as private as this decision is and my pro-life position. Had the issue had some middle ground and not the either/or stance, I think it would have been defeated.

Issues like this should not be put to a popular vote.
