Susceptibility to misinformation and disinformation likely to have played part in Leave vote.

New research from the University of Bath’s School of Management finds that higher cognitive ability was strongly linked to voting to Remain in the 2016 UK referendum on European Union Membership.

The study shows that cognitive skills including memory, verbal fluency, fluid reasoning and numerical reasoning, were correlated with how people decided to vote.

Lead author Dr Chris Dawson, from the University of Bath’s School of Management, said: “This study adds to existing academic evidence showing that low cognitive ability makes people more susceptible to misinformation and disinformation. People with lower cognitive ability and analytical thinking skills find it harder to detect and discount this type of information.

low cognitive ability makes people more susceptible to misinformation and disinformation.

Perhaps that's why the Democrats and their lackey professors believe that cognitive abilities are racist.

Only the smart ones are fit to vote. How can you tell if they’re smart enough? Just ask them.

We’re supposed to forget that a huge reason for the vote to Brexit was the Muslim rapefugees and the Rotherham scandal.

“Cognitive ability” = willingness to comply with authority.

Yawn, yet another “study” showing that the “smart” people swallow the party line.

Ho hum. A month or so ago, Alex Berenson had some data showing that compliance with covid-19 vax mandates/pressures was higher than average among the *moderately intelligent* but actually quite low among those of the *highest intelligence*. “Smart” people get ahead by following orders, being good little boys and girls and not questioning the system, but the smartest people are able to see through the b-lls—t.

Lol. Social Pseudoscientists again. The study results are written in advance.

What were the criteria? Simple. If you supported Brexit you were deficient. Makes the “study” easier.

lol - they’re drawing a conclusion about WHY they voted the way they did WITHOUT EVIDENCE. They’re ASSUMING it’s because of “misinformation and disinformation”. This is just classic liberal snobbery.

It doesn’t dawn on them for a moment that maybe THE WORKING CLASS is well aware that their lives were being made far more difficult by EU policies and voted accordingly. You know, like destroying fishing villages because the EU declares their waters to be off limits for them and to be taken over by other countries.

Heaven forbid they see with their own eyes that life is harder, their bank accounts are more stressed...and see all the BS the EU was mandating to their country, like immigration. No, it had to be because they “didn’t know what was best for them” and that they listened to ‘misinformation’.

Such arrogance. This is nothing more than “we’re more educated, speak more clearly, and assume ourselves superior” as to why they voted for the EU, anyone else must be ‘stupid’.

“Let them eat cake...”

I suspect that Brexit designers was worried that the university types would see through the scam and vote to leave so they tailored their propaganda to those who think very well of themselves educationally. They were then blindsided by the rest of the nation who saw through the Brexit propaganda and voted to leave.
Now all they have left is to heap contempt on those who out witted them, deeming them the ‘lower orders’. Creepy that it sounds like justification for screening those folks out next time.

But did it play a part in the Remain vote?

In any study, one must consider alternative explanations. In this one they conclude that being uneducated or not very bright (which are 2 different things) means you were susceptible to disinformation so you voted for Brexit. A much better alternative interpretation is that those without much education or ability to make bundles of money as a lawyer or doctor or grifting politician, are quite reasonably more threatened by letting in millions of immigrants who are also not very bright and not very educated but who are willing to work for less, and siphon off the same public benefits as not so bright UK citizens. The “uneducated” thus have made a sensible decision to vote in their own interests, because they don’t have the money or need for 2 nannies and 2 gardeners working for low wages, and they may need the public assistance that the elites dole out by the billion to anyone who crosses into the UK, reducing the amount available for them. So the ones with “low cognitive ability” are making a logical and rational choice, while the highly education authors of the article waste their time spewing nonsense in order to gaslight people to make worse decisions and punish themselves so the elite can have better maid service.
