Until recently, USC professor John Strauss was known mostly for his research on the economics of developing countries, with decades of fieldwork in Indonesia and China.
That changed Nov. 9, when Strauss stopped before students staging a walkout and protest calling for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and holding a memorial to thousands of Palestinian civilians killed in the Israel-Hamas war.
The economics professor’s interactions with students that day ended with the 72-year-old Strauss, who is Jewish, declaring: “Hamas are murderers. That’s all they are. Every one should be killed, and I hope they all are killed.”
Students captured those remarks on their cellphones, almost instantly seeming to recognize a viral moment. “Can you say that for the camera?” one pressed.

(Handout) Within hours, Strauss’ comments were posted online, shared and reshared on X, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
As his remarks raced across the internet, his condemnation of Hamas was often excised, leaving only his “hope” for “all” to be killed. Captions and comments online framed his demand for “every one” to be killed in myriad, at times deceptive, ways. One Instagram post shared to millions of users claimed falsely that Strauss told the students, “[I] hope you get killed....”

So, his first amendment rights are not usable? Can’t they handle the truth that some people may have a different opinion than they have? The University should be ashamed of disciplining this professor for speaking up.
I wonder what percentage of funds from Jewish alumni these schools are going to lose?
And it starts at home, with the parents or legal guardians, assuming they are even around.

At the inauguration of our current president Carol Folt, the invocation invoked pagan gods of some East Asian culture--at a school that was founded by Methodists, whose administrators were Methodist clergy and whose football team was called the Methodists. Soon afterwards, political correctness came to the campus. The statue of Rufus von KleinSmid, the president who turned USC into a world-class institution, was removed because someone discovered that he once wrote an article supporting eugenics, and his name was taken off of the Von KleinSmid Center where I took many a class.
I hope Professor Strauss does not apologize for what he said and that he will take some sort of legal action against the administration.

USC is private. It is not part of the UC system.
He’s right; every member of Hamas needs to be killed. They are irredeemable inbred barbarians and murderers.
I don’t know anything about this professor, he’s likely a leftist tool in many respects, given where he’s been employed. But in this case at least he is entirely correct.

Going by the last 2 elections, I can already see what is going to happen next year. Going into the final month of the presidential election republicans will double down on abortion and make it the number 1 issue. The unmotivated down in the dumps democrats will instantly be energized and they will turn out in droves, putting Gavin Newsom over the top and making him the next president of the United States.
And we’ll all be here on FR AGAIN asking, WHA HAPPENED??????
Just remember, Gavin is worse than biden. As a CA resident, I know that gavin is worse than Kamala. He is an evil SOB and he will push everything we’ve experienced the last 3 years even harder. I hope everyone realizes what Gavin Newsom is.
