Oh, you know the story changed. Russia is trying to rescue the earth from homosexuals and Nazi-types.

It certainly sounds that way, as any RATIONAL approach to this would be to keep it really, really, quiet, and then SPRING IT, before Russia can respond.
But no, instead they decided they’d prefer to have Russia fully liberate Ukraine, which will, now, likely wind up being the case.
Putin’s invasion has already resulted in increasing its borders on NATO countries by 830 miles and if Russia conquers Ukraine then the invasion will have resulted in an increase of about 1700 miles.
Russia is fighting desperately to increase its borders with NATO.
And what thing of Great value will they bring to NATO?

Then, Ukraine will cease to exist.
The Ruzzkis? ROTFL. The Ukies have been kicking their butts. So, why do we need NATO?
This statement will guarantee Russia annexes more of it or divides it up into tiny pieces.
They don’t want NATO on their doorstep.
They may not want NATO on their doorstep, but that is exactly what their invasion of Ukraine has brought them. Finland, a formerly neutral country, has joined NATO. Who knows what other countries will follow? And can you blame them? Ukraine is serving as a horrible warning to other countries on Russia's border who aren't part of NATO.
It's always interesting to see people (and nations) meet their destiny on the road to avoid it.
Crimea could become a NATO base during the breakup of historical Russia.

Seems War mongers would like it, cause it would pull us, USA, into their war on the ground.

What Russia really wants is resource wealth, farmland, ports, populations, and territory, they are obviously indifferent to bordering countries that have formed the defensive alliance called NATO, Russia is a nation of conquest, of a never-ending appetite for new lands to devour.
Russia just makes that noise about borders to feed the gullible, look at the non-reaction when Finland was accepted into NATO, and of course whatever Russia conquers of Ukraine moves Russia’s border that much closer to other NATO countries.
